I am a user with no affiliation with TER other than as a paying customer.  Most of the regular posters understand this, and this warning is not really directed at them.  LE always lurks on this site, and will occasionally fish by posting questions about specific locations and / or providers. Particularly with all of the publicity from the NY Hypocrite debacle.

TER cannot warn us or take down the suspect posts because that would constitute obstruction.  They are relying on us to self police (pun intended) and warn each other. (hence the fist line of this post)

When you see a post from a new poster without reviews asking about a specific area (like Salem and Beverly below, or Burlington the other day) or provider, please think long and hard about responding.  We have a newbie board for people to get help researching, so if the poster doesn't want to take advantage of it, its on them.  411 posts on specific providers from respected hobbyists who have reviews are a different matter, and should be responded to (that's one way we help each other).

Providers who list specific areas on their posts take a big risk, but they don't need the risk enhanced by hobbyists who add or embellish location information.

Just a heads up reminder.  Sometimes the best posts are the ones not posted, think before you submit.

I usually take those posts down. NEVER should anyone post hotel names, street addresses, or even specific areas of town (s).

Needless to say, personal info is even more verboten.

All this is just basic common sense, YET, there is always an imbecile that posts "Stay at the XYZ Hotel" on ABC street.

Well said Deputy!  Thanks!

Thanks Fuzzy, for deleting the post about Salem/Beverly locales.

Lisa of Boston :)
