I don't know about the rest of you folks, but the broken water main (serving 2 million in Greater Boston) sure changed my schedule. Non-natives: just google boston water main break.

I was hoping to visit somebody (started making introductions and tentative appointments earlier in the week) this weekend but the water situation put a damper on that for me. For me, this weekend was dry in more ways than one.

I was not just having to take care of my own needs (buy bottled water; boil water) but I was mostly concerned about getting someplace (incall) and finding water restrictions in place (having to wash up with a Wash 'n' Dry or baby wipes, etc.) or being offered a glass of water and worrying about whether it was toxic or not.

I'm sure that some businesses (restaurants, etc.) will file insurance claims or law suits for lost business. Providers: did the water problem affect you this weekend?

Providers should not have any problem canceling reservations if the hotel does not have water.  The problem may become availability of rooms in the suburbs.

I was visiting with an out of town friend for an extended period of time during this fiasco and we were only inconvenienced for a short time.  The hotel provided bottled drinking water and told us when it was safe to use the water for bathing. They did suggest we use the bottled water for brushing our teeth.  No concerns there, especially since my teeth were flossed several times a day. ;)  We did get a huge bottle of Listerine which went to good use.

They did an excellent job of getting things back to normal.  Thank goodness-it would have been a very messy situation since we worked up quite a sweat.

I used the water to give him an enema during watersports and he's still alive, even after my having to give him a spanking.  ;)

I personally don't feel comfortable drinking the water, but my hands tend to get dirty... and nothing can compare to hand washing with antibacterial soap. Sanitizer is alright for use in addition to traditional soap, but it's far from a substitution... I'll take my chances...
