What a wonderful thing to do Erin!

Having a soft heart in a cruel world is courage, not weakness.

Our government gives soooo much money for uses outside the US,
while I am in favor of a hand up for others, it makes no sense not to help our veterans, children, elderly and sick here at home first.

The fact that there is even one veteran homeless or waiting to receive medical and mental health care is a travesty.

 
•The 2014 AHAR, prepared by HUD, estimates there were 49,933 homeless Veterans on a single night in January 2014 in the United States.  

The first rule of survival:

"Put your own mask on first, then help others"

This year is going to be different.  I am going to donate 1/4 of my earnings from thanksgiving until Christmas to homeless veterans.  I generally focus on those whom are deployed.  While I will still send a big box of goodies to the big sand box ; I am more concerned with those at home who are sick and suffering.  Jeeze, I am such a baby this is getting me choked up.  Anyway,  some of you know why I do what I do for the military.  If you don't,  I will gladly tell you in person.  This is very important to me and I just want to give back what was and still is FREELY given to me.  Thanks for your time and HOOAH ❤

I think that you are awesome Erin, and while I personally can't say that a military donation would be something that would touch me personally, although I admire and respect the great people that defend our nation, I do think you have touched me with the gesture. I can only say it is touching and I am going to try to follow your lead and pick something close to my heart to give back to this holiday season. Your post was inspiring and has definitely made me pause to see how lucky some of us are and if that means being fortunate enough to give back in some way, we should :)

I am an Army mom and do everything I can to support our troops  whether active duty or retired 😊 unless you have someone in your life that serves you wouldn't know what they REALLY do to keep us safe.  Knowing what I know,  it's the least I can do.
