So I've been trying to schedule an appointment with this provider and have sent her a couple of e-mails and a PM (in the last three days) but haven't heard back. Now, I understand that she may be getting a lot of e-mails and she may have missed my e-mails or may have decided not to see me (for whatever reasons). The thing is she has posted an ad after my e-mail so it's not like she hasn't been online.

Should I attempt another e-mail or PM? Not too keen on calling directly. I'm more of an e-mail person.

I don't want to appear like a stalker but if I'd got an acknowledgement, it'd been good. So my question is if there is a rule to stop trying after x attempts or everyone has their own prerogatives. Thoughts

PS: This is not a grunt post. I'm just curious to know.

I wouldn't email a girl more than once every few days.  Especially if you've never even met.  If you're sending 3-5 emails a day, it can start to feel creepy. She can see the email sitting there.

Thanks for the response guys.just for the record it wasn't 3-5 emails  day. It was 2 emails in 3 days and that too because I thought she may have missed the first one.but I get the point loud and clear. A little unprofessional though to not even acknowledge but that's her business loss.

Thanks again. Appreciate the replies.

Sometimes it can take several days to screen a new client, I've even had times where it's taken weeks to hear back from some references. Two to three business days to complete screening is common in my experience. Repeated contacts while still in screening could be viewed as a red flag to many providers. Problem clients, and LE, will try to rush screening hoping that you'll get sloppy and let them through.

Or perhaps you just didn't pass screening, and she's trying to avoid any potential conflict by ignoring you. Repeated contact attempts at that point is just more likely to convince her you're to be avoided, and may result in her blacklisting you.

My advice is to make one request, and if you haven't received a response within three business days, then I feel it would be acceptable to send a follow up email to check on your status. If you still don't get a response, then it's time to move on.

Thanks Nyx_GG. So you're suggesting it is normal to not acknowledge the original e-mail while you're checking the references or if she decides not to see me (due to my references not clear). I must admit I find that a little strange. I've had previous instances where the provider acknowledged my e-mail in a hours and then took 3-4 (sometimes more) days to check the references and get back which- for the reasons you pointed out- is totally understandable. I can't think of any problems anyone can have with that.

My OP was about the # of attempts a hobbyist should make if he doesn't get an acknowledgement. As a few people suggested 2 sounds like a fair number. But I'm going to stick with just one for future. If she doesn't acknowledge -with due respect - that's loss in her income.

As I said in one of my previous responses, in this particular case (a first for me), I've sent just two e-mails and not a flurry as appears from a few responses. End of topic for me. No harm no foul :-).

However, do not be surprised when two months from now she replies.

It's not normal nor is it professional and it's basically rude to not acknowledge an email, but these girls do have other lives and this is a weird profession that gathers all kinds of providers. She may be away she may be busy or she may just be inconsiderate but  2 emails in 3 days is hardly stalking.

If you've never seen her than it's unlikely it's personal as to why she chose to ignore you, call it an oversight as benefit of the doubt and move on.. Plenty of lovely ladies happy to show you a good time

.... part of me wants to say move on but her life could be really crazy at this time. If she accepts calls i'd try once to call and leave a VM and give her 24hrs to respond in some kind of way and then that'd really be it.

Most will/should at least acknowledge the initial email. I know my standard response is that I'll be in touch once screening is complete. But I have known some very low volume independents who may only check their "work email" once a week. But receiving no response if you fail screening for whatever reason is pretty common, especially if you're blacklisted somewhere. Most providers won't tell you if they found you were blacklisted, because they don't want you to try to use different contact information next time. Even if you failed for another reason, they want to avoid conflict by not telling you, because some guys can get very upset by it and seek revenge.
