I think it's a trade off. The ease of access to new ladies vs. allowing yourself to be carefully screened.
If you're willing to give up your personal information, you'd have a better chance to be able to as nothrofboston said in his e-mail above "be driving by, and wham, bam thank you ma'am." You also could be more sure that a girl that you haven't seen before won't turn out to be a dud, rip you off, etc. In short-term it's much less headache.
On the other hand, if things go wrong and all of a sudden your name is out there, you might wish you never made such a bargain but by then it would be too late. Those who require screening would always claim that it's safe, I'd say it isn't. Those who say that it's ok to be providing your personal information to escort services or independent providers that require it, all are either already decided to take that chance, or really don't give a damn if their name is found in somebody's address book, or have a clearly defined ulterior (business) motive to be pushing the notion that it's ok to do such a thing. Every now and then, LE or hackers would get a hold of some service address book and you find yourself, like in a country-western song: "losing your job, your wife, your kids, your dog, etc" and "on the road again" too.
But forget about what I or anyone else says just listen to your own instincts.
Most of the indies don't keep such careful notes and if they do, chances are they screen in the same way as services do as well. With most of the local indies however I most of the time would be able to see them without providing any personal info via couple of referrals either from other providers or from fellow mongers. So far all services I tried to enlist with would require to know my name, my residence, my place of work, and my momma's place of work too 
(Just in case, for those poor souls with a handicapped sense of humor, I was just kidding on the "momma thing")
On the other hand it involves much more work and research to get yourself an indy regular, and much greater risk of being cheated, ripped off, etc. in the process too, then when going with a service, and if you like variety that would risk would increase with every new girl you see.
So I figure, these are the main trade offs.
