that would though be a jury of his peers....lol

I am very worried that by releasing all the information to the media, the cops may be prejudicing thier case against Phillip Jackoff.  No one reading the coverage the past few days could have any doubt that the turd is guilty. The trouble is that his lawyer can now argue that it is impossible to find an unprejudiced jury and therefore imposible for him to get a fair trial.  If you were called for jury duty on the case, could you honestly swear under oath that you have no opinions as to his guilt.
The cops showed they wee very smart in catching him, but they are being very stupid releasing all this information.  The asshole might actually get off!

But if he does...all the girls know his name/photo

...unnamed sources who are not allowed to talk about what is happening, etc.

So pretty much all the information released has been released because of talkative idiots who are releasing information without authorization to do so.

But this is typical in a case of this magnitude.   The public at large wants to know what is happening, and there are many people only too happy to release everything that they know on the subject even if they are not allowed to do so.

But you are correct in that all this information being available in the public media will make it difficult to get unbiased jurors.

I seriously think that the venue for this case will be changed before it is tried.

I was reading the paper yesterday when a friend who does not know what I do stopped by, she was basically clueless to all the details just that a guy was arrested, looks somewhat like the guy to her but really only us in this business and those close to the crimes are following this case word for word detail for detail step by step. She is yesterdays news to most of the world.
I do not think it will be as difficult as you would like to believe to find ppl who know little about all the dirty details. We are focused on it, it happened in this community and we know there are more victims. We know more about the in/out call system references, 2 call systems and so on. Most of society is clueless to most of this. Hell most of the ladies who have worked in Boston b4 knew it was the picture of the inside of the Marriot w/out the media saying so. We are atuned to all this, its part of our world. Society does not.

Every high profile case hits the media in a frenzy but by the time the trial happens in a few years it will be less in peoples heads,(plus some people that end up in that jury box might not even know about the case believe it or not) It's not like t.v when someone gets arrested then 2 seconds later there is a trial....Remember the guy from England that killed his wife and child? he ended up being found guilty

They can always moved it to Worcester or parts west.

Although you'd be surprised how many people don't read the newspapers or follow the news.   Hard to fathom, but true.

Not, no just in Worcester, around Boston as well.  LOL.

Hate to burst your bubble but___.  With all the evidence against this Killer I bet that he will plead out before trial.  Just my opinion.  Don't get me wrong I think that he sould get life or worse!!!

This was not just a local story - it was on national newscasts and probably papers across the country.  SweetNichole is right, there are a lot of cluless people, particularly with respect to our community, so by the time it gets to trialmost people will have forgotten.
But the blabbing of all the evidence against the turd is not going to make it easier for the prosecution and may provide grounds for an appeal.

Appeal has nothing to do with what is going on now in the media, that only applies to a specific incident or two during the trial or in the investigation, ie OJ & Mark Furhman.....

I'm having trouble following your logic here. We all think he is guilty so he might get off?  I honestly don't see how public opinion or media coverage will get him off. Unless a jury of his pears winds up being 12 college-aged misogynists
with gambling problems and entitlement issues I think he will get a fair trial and be found guilty...

that would though be a jury of his peers....lol

My point was that because of the extensive media coverage and the disclosure of key evidence in the press, it will be possible for his attorney to use this as an arguement that he can not get a fair trial. I'm not arguing that there is any doubt in my mind about his guilt or that he should get off. I am just saying that the extensive coverage may make the case more difficult for the prosecution.
If I were called for his jury and under oath, the best I could do would be to say that I had followed the case and I think that he is guilty, but I would try to listen to all arguements with an open mind. I don't want to go to jail for perjory.  I would love to be on that jury!

Fortunately they don't cancel trials and release people because it will be difficult to find a jury.
Believe it or not there are millions of people out there who have no idea what Craig's List or the Craig's List killer is. While we are all watching the news they are watching Jerry Springer and Dog the Bounty Hunter reruns...

I'm not worried....

well you are too knowledgeable about this hobby and cl so even if you were set to be on the jury in the end you would be disqualified.
