If you think GMAIL is safe and is hiding your identity, think again. The above article demonstrates how the biggest of big can have you by the short hairs....and all your friends too!

If you use your hobby email for anything else, then you're not trying hard enough to hide anything anyway.

This article in no way states that the NSA is tracking real identities via gmail.  Unless that identity is expressed in the emails themselves. In which case you're not hiding from anyone.

If you're that paranoid about the Guv'mint watchin' yew, go live in a cave off the grid.

So they get your IP + the traffic between your hobby buddies, the traffic to your GFE, and then they link the traffic between all your buddies and all the GFE + other GFE's too! Looks like a great tool for building a case against your favorite GFE/agency.  
Each GFE would look like a "hub" with spokes- light communication between hobbiests and other GFE "hubs." In a graphic it would be very easy to see and taget the GFE or her agency and evidence would coroberate testimony.....

Yes, but GMail lets anyone do that- not just the NSA/FBI etc. Now a PI and local local LE has a great tool to aid in the creation of a foundation that supports other evidence.  
I'm just saying that we all should use smaller secure/encrypted email sources. Maybe even look to off-shore email providers since homeland wants to force all encrypted mail providers to allow a special backdoor for LE to access your mail.

I'm pretty sure if the NSA wanted to bust you for prostitution, they can do it in about 50 different ways that does not involve tracking your email.  This is why the whole Prism thing is completely overblown.  If the government wanted to get you, they don't really need your email.  They have plenty of other ways of surveilling you.  They've been doing this since before the internet.  Prism just gives them a tool for them to find the people who really know how to hide (e.g. terrorists).  Your regular john shouldn't worry about Prism because chances are, they've screwed up in about 10 different other ways.

They build a big prison to hold all us horn-dogs.  They may even put one up for the gals just across the way so we can see them with our home made binoculars that we make in shop.

...but do you really think that anything we do is big enough for "Them" to even pay attention to? It's pretty safe to assume that any email, or cell phone call, can be intercepted by "No Such Agency". But 99.9% of what they intercept is discarded as unimportant to "Them". I've actually talked to people in the intelligence community, and you'd be amazed at what they're actually capable of doing when "They" want to.

Most folks have not even gone so far as to stop their phones from giving their location except for emergencies.  Talk about leaving a phone number around?  How do you explain this regular pause in your movements every week for an hour when you are supposed to be at work?

There is no real privacy.
