I do not have access to the provider board, or else I'd post this information there. I had an issue with male hotel staff attempting to let themself into my room with their key card in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. they kept trying to get the door open despite my screaming that the room was occupied, also despite the "do not disturb" sign on the door. Please PM for hotel name and location.
Nothing very upsetting occurred because I had the bolt on the door, but the hotel was unapologetic and I can certainly see where this situation could have gone a lot worse. I'll never stay there again and I'd like to help other girls be on their guard if they choose this hotel.
Also- and I'm sure we all know this already- never forget to bolt your door!

Many others have said they use a Doorstop Alarm when traveling. You can get them at Walmart for around $10

...change hotels, because with that response they are probably hip to the fact that you are not a basic tourist

And if she had expensive jewelry (possibly stolen) or a nice set of luggage (real, not knock-offs) they can just let themselves in to take a peak?

There was no emergency, no overflowing bathtub, no smoke or flames. There was no reason to try to enter the room unannounced IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

HOWEVER, you should definitely report it to management. Assuming it was a rogue employee, they can check every card swipe on your door and match it to specific key cards. That employee is a threat to guests and to the hotel's reputation (and insurance policy!). If the employee was in security or IT, he might have been able to issue himself an untraceable card or erase the swipe but now we're getting fancier.

If it was not an employee with a hotel card, then someone has hacked their system and they STILL would want to know.

Maybe the previous room guest kept their card but was not properly "deactivated" in the system. The employee who goofed that up needs to be re-trained or alerted to their error.

YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY REPORT THE INCIDENT so they can do their own investigation ... to protect you and everyone else in the future

Tara, you should just post the hotel, so we can ALL avoid it like the plague

If they are brazen enough to enter a room while occupied then imagine what they do when you aren't there during the day.

Women.. Men... We should stay clear of this place.

I'd like to know the name of the hotel too. I'm coming to Boston soon and  want to make sure I am in a place I feel safe.

The said person was definitely hotel staff and not a guest??? Very sorry that this happened to you.

they take that stuff very seriously, they have no idea why you where there and that should not and does not matter.  they employ many people and unfortunately some in hotel industry with not the best histories....you must call back the hotel and report your incident again...and you should post it here as well for the other providers...
predator likely went to many rooms to access it and was only stopped due to your metal latch.
