I haven't heard of this happening to anybody, but it might be worth a read, it's pretty startling.

The nefarious tentacles of Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and others invade your lives (private and public) and will make connections that you never thought could exist, let alone be found.  Their stated goals are TO CONNECT EVERYONE ON THE PLANET whether they want to be connected or not.

I don't do internet on my phone, just my laptop.  I do my hobbymail with Yahoo on a different browser from my real life stuff like Hotmail, Facebook, Linked-In...etc.

Facebook takes people I have sent or recieved emails from and suggests I friend them...including a scumbag lawyer I had to deal with 10 years ago.  When you accept terms of Facebook, you give up all right to privacy.

Phones are tracked by both GPS and cell tower pings. You need to turn off your phone completely ... which is kind of hard to do if you're calling from the corner to get the room number.

It also goes far beyond location only. Every search that you do on your desktop (or laptop) will find its way back to your apps and emails to which the storm of pop up ads will testify.  The article cited notes that FB uses 100 pieces of data to find links between people ... and I wouldn't be surprised if it was well over 100.

So I was just texting a message, and the autofill suggested my TER handle as an option. WTF?? Gotta stop logging in from that device now! (How can I erase an autofill entry on an iphone??)
