It hasnt happened to me yet, but if it ever does, I'm reminded of the British duke who told his mistress "publish and be damned".  Really the right way to deal with a blackmailer, IMO.  Of course I dont have that kind of money to fork over, so perhaps in my case the question would be moot anyway.

I think dc5 is correct except when the person being blackmailed is famous enough that it will bring notoriety (i.e. wealth and lots of attention) to the accuser. If anyone ever tried that on me I'd tell her GFY go fuck yourself.
