Entry ( ;-) ) -level for the early-retired returning hobbyist?

Question for the ladies and gentlemen,

I am early-retired (from BUSINESS I mean, not the other thing), I infrequently visited some ladies years ago (probably nobody remembers now, and of course you all promise to shred any written records), and I would like to get more active and build the client reputation that the agencies, and the classier ladies with permanent websites, require.

Without job info for verification, I would need prior references from these same ladies or agencies.  Oh, chicken and egg.

I am gentle and inoffensive and actually not terribly grumpy.  Really.

Advice?  (Besides "Get a job!")

Thanks!

...There are plenty of old school ladies who  don't operate by textbook screening methods and instead rely heavily on their instincts and life knowledge to determine who is worth giving a first chance and who isn't.  After all, employment verification only tells you that a client is employed- it doesn't necessarily tell a lady if a caller is a gentleman or the sort of person she'd like to entertain.

Without devulging anyone's secret or drawing you a map- I think that its really a matter of picking up the telephone and having a real chat with each individual lady you're interested in and figuring out which employs more of a common sense/personalized approach to verifying guests than rote employment verification.
After a few telephone chats or emails you should be able to find the break that you need to get started!

Good luck!
