..... to be made in breeding!  lol!!!

From USA Today, today:-

"There is no debate money can be made in breeding. Before the Preakness, Three Chimneys acquired Big Brown's breeding rights from his owners. NBC reported the price at more than $50 million. How can Three Chimneys recoup that?

Take Storm Cat, whose 19-year breeding career in Kentucky included a run from 2002 to 2007 in which his fee was $500,000 for each offspring produced. Equiline.com says he has sired 1,392 offspring overall."

Do the MATH:-

1,320 x $ 500,000 = $ 660,000,000.00  KaChing, KaChing

With oil approaching $150/barrel like an unstoppable freight train, gasoline creeping north of $4/gal in the Northeast, the economy getting flushed down the toilet by today's unemployment report, housing market still in a coma and the stock market spiraling down uncontrollably, I fear a bleak future our beloved hobby this summer and beyond. This means, hobbyists will simply have to cut back on their playtime and providers and agencies will have no choice but to discount their services to try and maintain their standard of living.

Anybody out there feel the breath of recession yet?

Biz is WAY down for all but the top 5% of girls. Hobby spending is the ultimate form of discretionary spending, and most guys are squeezed. Gas prices, heating oil, taxes, food, and travel have increased exponentially. Add to that fact that  provider SUPPLY is UP as  more Secretaries, and students are becoming providers. That's  making biz that much more difficult for most of the veteran providers. This downturn will be exacerbated by Summer vacation when most hobbyists slow way down, and gas prices, and taxes continue to climb. Don't expect a turnaround this year, or even early next year--- It won't happen!

Ladies  are having little choice but to get creative with marketing, specials, discounts, or extra time to stay "business as usual".

For obvious reasons Vegas seems to be one of the very few recession proof hobby markets. Most every other area is experiencing a sharp drop in business activity.

I know in certain area's LE is in a police state when it comes to the hobby such as Atlanta. I was down there last week and saw LE monitor a few hotels a 24x7. Don't forget about the high profile cases such as the DC madam and the NY Governor.

will be trying to get something for nothing. That really makes the girls want to give us top notch thrills. I am so sick of hearing about the recession. What these girls offer is indeed a luxury. If you cannot afford the finer things you may want to stock up on KY and porn. Pony up your cheap bastards. It makes me sick to see some of the highest quality girls cutting their rates so that just about any trash picker can't stick his grubby fingers up her wazoo. Tastey! I know I won't be seeing ladies who place so little value on themselves. Where are your standards? You are not selling a car. Wake up. If you are slow get a supplementary job. Do not let the penny pinchers dictate your worth. Call me a white knight I could give a shit. If these were your daughters would you want them to put up with this bullshit!

Pennypincher hiding behind a fuckin alias.Let me finger your asshole and then fuck you you white Knight or maybe you are a cheap slut who cannot make it in this world. You unhappy bitch Go to hell!!and rot there with devil

OK, I'll call you a white knight, except it's obvious you aren't a guy at all.

If U don't think we are in a recession, you better look around. People are losing their homes and Jobs. The stock market is going down. Lots of stores are closing and Going Out of buisness.
Everyone is giving out deals to lurk their customers back in their stores.
So I sure hope you are a millionaire so U can enjoy to pay and play.
Wether you are a WK or a provider at least have the balls to post without an alias you asshole

The people that have lost their homes are people borrowing sums of money they should have never been allowed to borrow. The whole subprime mortgage idea was a giant disaster waiting to happen.

Did anyone forsee this sort of impact? Hell. I had been on the job for just a couple weeks as an account executive for a mortgage shop and I knew it was going to happen. Just seeing the utter garbage we were feeding customers and putting them into horrible loans made me sick. I never thought my loose morals would get in the way of making a lot of money. I was wrong.

because she pays full fare and won't use a lot of towels

I would hope that she has a much better grasp of basic economics than you do...

Have fun, MG

...By cultivation of relationships between providers and their return guests.  An open line of communication and mutual respect can set the stage for fluctuation or time increments/packages not on the table for the unknown client.

I think that with the onslaught of non-pros, infrequent pros, students & women looking for supplemental income those who have an interest in variety will always have an alternative to the median-rated ($250-300) provider.
There will always be providers who choose volume over selectivity or alternative income and the rates will fluctuate to price points acceptable to various clients' needs.

Is the business going to be the free-for-all it was two years ago for every single provider? No.
But an "average", savvy, flexible provider or one who doesn't rely upon the business as her sole source of income  isn't going to notice much of a difference at all.

My $.02 and KK, stop being so pessimistic! Let's go to the movies!

At the risk of alienating other hobbyists I would say no.

When life is hard, I am too. When money is tight, more than ever I need a tight...oh never mind.

Ladies, don't discount, give S&H Green Stamps?
(Man, is this guy old.)

...recession or no recession, I will be honored if you will go to the movies with me!

In this difficult times, it makes more sense to do  the research, seek out well reviewed providers, know exactly what you can expect to get.

Thank you ladies for providing us with a wide selection of options.  We will count our pennies and start cashing in our bottle returns.

I tend to agree with Ally, there will always be difficult times however, those of us who have other sources of revenue and maintain our high standards of service will see those we have made connections with returning as they always have.

Now, some gentlemen may not be returning as frequently as they had in the past, and I do agree that it never hurts to offer the fine gents a little extra added value. I don't think deep discounting is the answer, once you do that, you inevitably will get stuck in a chronic situation of people wanting those discounts. I think a soft discount and perhaps adding more time may work best. We all know what works well for us and should adjust accordingly. For those who have specialized skills, now may be the time to offer those up. I know that as they say there is something for everyone!

Warmest Regards,

Savanah

...whether you are a provider or a hobbyist     ;-) .......yes we are in a recession, but, however I would like to chop the balls off of the Morgan Stanley analyst who said yes we will have $150/barrel oil by the 4th of July....Voila! we are at $140 in a flash!

However it has not effected how often I hobby.  It costs me $80 to fill my tank now vs. $60 a couple of months ago. I fill my tank about three to four times a month.  I can brew my own coffee instead of going to the coffee shop, eat out (food, not women) once or twice less often a month and more than make up for the extra money I am spending on gas.  It is always a matter of priorities.

Gas is what is hurting my personal economy!
I fill up at $75 and I fill up twice a week at least!  Maine to Mass round trip twice a week is about 600 miles a week!
I wish I could just wiggle my nose and end up in the parking lot, LOL!
Instead I also just make the appropriate cutbacks and make it work.

Ciao!
Love, Penny XXXOOO

Economists use an objective criteria to determine a recession for a a good reason. We aren't in one. The economy is growing, slowly, but it is growing. People have an emotional response to $4+ a gallon gasoline and for some its a serious problem, but overall driving is down a couple of percent. Most of the equity losses have shaken out of the housing market and following the decline in value homes are beginning to sell again. The unemployment report MAY be troubling but most of this years graduating college class has hit the job market and may account for part of the bump. Even if that increase reflects a large jump in previously employed workers, 5.5% is low as a historical measure. It is about the number that used to be considered full employment. Oil prices are riding emotion more than real demand supply numbers, when things settle down they will correct.

The factors driving this are more election year hype, the desire of the media to treat everything as a crisis, and our own emotional response to uncertainty. I don't doubt that hobbying is down in most markets because discretionary spending has tightened up across the board.

Will the direct cost of hobbying decrease? Perhaps. Some ladies will offer inducements, others will make do with fewer appointments, and as always some will not see any difference.

The point is that the days ahead are only as dark as one decides to paint them.

That's my only requirement-jeez!
Busy subject. I am Hoping that the new election will help our economy or a brilliant natural gas solution will appear but until then I am going to do what I do best. . . .

"Yes Sir, please fill me up" as I bend down at the pump. . . "Oh, and don't forget the lube."

That's exactly it, we're getting ****** but it is what you make of it . . .

Quality not quantity and until then I suppose I could lower my means of living just a bit! :) Happy Hobbying Fellas

1) I think that there will a few women who charge top dollar who will always get that amount.  Nothing will change in that area.

2) There will be some women who have been in the biz for a longer period of time, and this was their time to "jump to the top tier" in terms of rates.   The economy is hurting that jump now, and they are pissed about it.   They will try to get top dollar, but will simply fail and have to lower rates.

3) There are some women who are charging above the median price in an area.  They are going to be hurt because nothing makes them have a compelling reason to visit, so the extra money will not be spent.   If these women lower their prices to the median price then business will improve but they cannot believe that it would be right.

4) There are some women who are at the median price right now (whatever that is in their area), and they will continue to do OK.  They may have specials to increase new business, and give hidden discounts to some men, which will increase their business.

5) There are woman who charge less than the median price.  These women will probably increase in business simply because men who would have engaged a median price woman will not engage this woman.

Look, to people who say that if you as a woman discount your rates you are cheapening yourself..   That is just garbage.  A woman is worth what she thinks she is, and the amount of money that she charges for an hour of her time is not a reflection of her personally.   I have known many women who publically have admitted to discounting (one of them has posted on this thread), and even more who discount after a visit or two.  It is just plain good business, which after all this transaction is.

I am plainly sick and tired of women and men who think that a woman discounting is cheapening herself.   That is garbage!
