What a bummer, he was one of the great ones.

The most recent article I found has him on life support.  Let's not rush things here:

Same I'm confused because news stations were saying he was dead and then 5 minutes after updated it to he was on life support. He's pretty much in a vegetative state so most likely the family will take him off if he doesn't progress is usually what happens sadly.  

Nobody could pen a tone poem like Tom.   His work was always elegance wrapped in impeccable production techniques.

Terrible loss to the music industry and the world.
