Slice the lemon, lime and orange into thin rounds (or med-size cubes) and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours but 8 hours is better. When ready to serve, crush the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon and stir in the wine and orange juice.

Yes, it will get you in trouble and take you by surprise, especially if you eat some of the fruit. You don't realize that there is rum in the sangria since it has been soaking in the fruit and the sugar masks the taste. Anyway, make sure that you get some of the fruit in each glass if you want to experience the full effect. Enjoy!
