I was inspired by the movie quote thread from a couple of days ago.  This is for those groups or acts who, when you hear the first cut, you realize you're listening to a star.  My first two nominees:
1.  I Saw Her Standing There -- Meet the Beatles
2.  Blinded by the Light -- Greetings from Asbury Park (Bruce Springsteen)
Nominees from the 21st Century also accepted.

I've followed Eno since the Portsmouth Sinfonia.  

His lifetime output combined with his production work with Bowie, Devo, Talking Heads, and U2 (To name only a few.) is proof of his being the JS Bach of our time.  

Sadly his current work is flagging a bit, but occasionally he hits one out of the park. Check out a piece called "Written, Forgotten".

It's a very rare genius who can continue full bore into their golden years.

I agree that he's a rare contemporary genius. I haven't heard much of his recent work, but albums like Another Green World and Music for Airports show an unprecedented creative range. I'll certainly check out the track you mentioned.

Eno was one of the first "out" artists (so to speak) I had heard when I was in my early teens; listening to him in my old bedroom in my parents' house was pretty mind-blowing!

I don't remember much of anything before, say, 1982/3.

80s:  "Radio Free Europe" by REM on Murmur album
90s: "Head Like a Hole" by NIN on Pretty Hate Machine
00s: "Dont Panic" by Coldplay on Parachutes
10s: "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons off Night Visions- or-
"Dirty Paws" by Monsters and Men off My Head is an Animal

It's hard with the current bands because you never know. I like Monsters and Men more than Imagine Dragons. We'll see what their longevity is.  

That said, since my username is a play off another REM song, REM gets my nod from the past 3 decades.
