I am going with Martha Coakley. We need the 60th vote in the Senate so the US can finally have a healthcare system that covers everyone and not just those who can afford it.
Unfortunately I am not a Mass resident, so I can only hope...

I will be voting for Coakley, even though I'm not big on her because the Republican party simply cannot be allowed back into power; they would throw trillions of dollars at our economic problems with no plan whatsoever. That, and the GOP is not a friend of a website like this one.

OK, no flame, just a friendly disagreement!. Fact as stated in the Wall Street Journal, for a family making $102,000.00 or more, it will cost an ADDITIONAL $5,400.00 a year in taxes to fund this bill.

Spending in Washington is getting out of hand. There is no way we can pay for 2 wars, the bailout and now healthcare. I know it sounds a little cold, but lets face it something has to get pushed aside. If it's the wars then we are open target for every Terrorist group in the world.(which I think we are already) If it's the bailouts a lot more people will be unemployed. Putting a bigger strain the economy then there is now.
So it looks like healthcare is the one to be side tracked for the time being. I think it's a good idea but it is being rammed down out throats and that's not good.
It needs to be better thought out, because once it's out there, trying to fix it going to be next to impossible.
The Democrats what to push this bill threw as fast as they can so at the next election they can brag about how they did good for the American people. When in the long run they will be hurting more people then helping.

Health plan trying to be jammed through congress is a fucking disaster! The federal government has NEVER been able to run ANY program effectively and everyone of them is so far in the red EVERY YEAR and ALL of them keep getting expanded (with whatever benefits they are touting being cut at the same time) and costing every WORKING citizen (and the health care program WILL be covering the illegals - hence the rise doubling of the numbers of the "uninsured") more every month and providing less than what is already available with the piss poor Medicare/Medicaid programs.
The ONLY people that will benefit from this plan are the deadbeat sponges that suck the life out of the country and who will NEVER be productive in any way towards society.
The LAST thing this country needs is MORE government and MORE intrusion into the lives of the working class.

It pains me to contradict you, but here are some facts:
Medicare, a government run health insurance program for the elderly is far more efficient than any privately run health insurance program. (5% overhead vs. 15-20% for private insurance companies). Don't confuse the fact that Medicare is going bankrupt (for lack of proper funding) for efficiency.
The healthcare system before Congress does NOT cover illegals. This is a favorite of all those fear mongers out there - I am sad to see you have fallen for it too!
The US is the only Western democracy that doesn't cover all its citizens with basic healthcare. As the richest nation on earth, if this isn't a badge of shame, please tell me what is!
If you are so worried about large government, why don't you speak out against the huge defense budget (about 1 trillion dollars for 2010) that is almost a third of our national budget?

medicare is going broke because back in the LBJ gays he transferred the medicare fund into the general fund. Medicare also pays out to every person whether they have ever contributed ANYTHING into the system and that is why they are going broke. I use Medicare and I know first hand what an inept and over employed agency it is (as are all of the governments programs). They have cut what they pay out to everyone except when it comes to paying themselves. (The federal employees all had raises this year).
You are incorrect about the coverage of illegals. The original number of "uninsured" the program would cover was 15 million. It is now at either 30 or 60 and although the INITIAL start of the program will not cover them the amnesty program that will GIVE them their citizenship then puts them into the "fold"!
Who gives a shit if we are the only country that doesn't have a national healthcare! THe other countries are all struggling and their citizens are clamoring to come here to get GOOD medical treatment for what they want and when they want it. I don't have medical insurance. I can get it - but at an extremely high cost because I am a cancer survivor BUT I have NEVER denied medical treatment for anything (including radiation treatments that I will NEVER be able to pay off for a wandering cancer cluster that had escaped the surgeon's knife).
As far as I'm concerned this country gets into more international trouble when we cut our defense budget. I'm a firm believer in a big stick and not to be afraid to use it if necessary. Trust me, my friend, I have seen what a crappy defense budget can do when you are on the other side of the coin.
There is not ONE government project that has ever been run in the black or has ever even come close to staying within it's annual budget! There is no need for them to do so - if they need more they do what the Freshman is doing now - fuck it, just print more!
I have always disliked the legislative and executive branch being in the hands of the same party.
While we can not change that immediately it would be terrific to eliminate the filibuster proof senate. Bring back some bipartisan discussions and possibly curtail some spending bills.

The democratic lead Congress have been a a 2 trillion dollar spending spree and what has really been gained by. We own two auto companies that will likely need continued subsides to survive. We bailed out a bunch of banks that gave out big bonus, donated a bunch more to politicians and then said FU to the tax payer when they wany to refinance or dare say buy a house. We have a $800 billion stimulus, that didn't keep unemployment down, create the jobs it claims but veru exectively grew government and extended entittlement spedning.
This isn't new either, this existed happen during Bush II and Clinton. If you hated the Bush years, the Obama years are starting out 10 times worse as it concerns deficeit spending. And please don't say it is because Busg screwed it up. The spedning policies under the Bush years, where widely Democratic plans. Welfare expansion, No Child left behind and increased Medicaid spending where all Democratic ittiatives (look at the bill sponsorships). Bush sold his domestic policy to gain support for the war in Iraq.
I think we should vote every one out. Get term limits in the Senate and do drastic campaign fund raising reform.

I can't really be called a republican or democrat; and frankly I believe our political system is so unspeakably corrupted to the very core that it should be destroyed utterly and rebuilt.
That having been said, I think Martha is an arrogant and ignorant corrupt machine politician who shouldn't even be running a hot dog stand.
I contributed to Scott Brown because I believe he is the least corrupt of the two AND he will put the squeeze on this crazy healthcare plan.
I believe that anything that would be wrong for me to do directly is also wrong for me to do by proxy. Using government as an intermediary for theft on a grand scale is evil IMO. Putting a veneer of respectability on it by claiming the theft to be the "will of the people" in a democracy doesn't change the basic act being performed. Witch burnings were also the will of the people.
We have replaced our Constitutional Republic with a system in which institutionalized theft has become so pervasive that everyone seems to benefit from everyone stealing from everyone else; when in the end, nobody benefits. In addition, federal subsidies with strings have practically neutered state governments as agents for protecting our freedom.
Brown can't even begin to solve these problems,. but at least he can help slow their progress.

I used to not be a big fan of illegal immigration, but I think I have an idea.
We should make a deal with any country on earth that for every politician of ours they take, we'll take 10,000 of their citizens who want to come. I'd prefer to send them someplace like Saudi Arabia; but Mexico will do. But with politicians down there, we would definitely need a fence.
