So lets give our thoughts on Aliases? GOOD or BAD.

i really dont know why you would need an alias anyways but this is a great question.

Good when they are the furtherance of a joke, a light hearted moment, trying to stay UTR while adding positively to a post or thread, etc.

Bad when they are just being negative without back up or a chance to refute.

It isn't a black and white issue.

How they are used the issue, you can't say they all should be banned because a few people have used them inappropriately.

If they loosen up the board a bit (which they seem like they are doing) and allow people to shoot down some of the negative comments these people post then I think it will discourage usage a little more.

Plus if they eliminated them couldn't people just create "other" TER accounts that essentially act as an alias making this entire debate pointless?

To me it is a black and white issue. They are bad. The bottom line is don't say anything on a board you aren't willing to take ownership of. Call me funny, but I tend to be a man of few words, but when I speak, I mean it!

I enjoy the hell out of using aliases.
TER would be boring as shit without them.

Aliases allow both good and bad things to happen.  I believe they are necessary to keep, and keep confidential.

For example if reporting a scam girl or agency from EROS, CL, Backpage, or even a TER ad.  People who scam tend to be vindictive and spiteful, so the need for an alias.  I would not want MJ to come looking for me.

Even valid escorts have issues from time to time (NCNS seems to come up frequently) and again good reason to hide when reporting this.

Alaises can cause problems, but also allow problems to get solved.

I learned that, I spoke up about a NCNS and got vialified by the provider. She also claimed that other providers agreed with her and claimed Boston Guys where spitefull.

I would never post a complaint like that under my normal name again. I wasted my time getting stood up, get a lame excuse, and I was the bad guy.

I never feel it neccesary to give an alias any information. . .

Aliases are just a human tool. Nothing more. As such, they are devoid of innate moral content.

What gives them moral content is the way they are used.

An alias used to deal with a sensitive topic or to allow speech that would otherwise subject him/her to penalty; is a good thing.

An alias used for the specific purpose of engaging in a personal attack (that is, attacking the character or the person rather than the ideas presented) is a bad thing. You cannot have free expression of ideas if people are subjected to personal attacks. Attack the IDEA not the PERSON.

It is my opinion that moderators should use these guidelines in determining whether to allow aliases to be used in posts; and that members who misuse aliases in order to facilitate personal attacks should be moderated; or that a function should be implemented that disables their ability to use aliases for a period of time.

Or, even better -- aliases used to snipe should simply be flipped at random without warning.

In this way, we can have the benefits of aliases without the detriments.

I'm going to be straight here. There are people who no longer post to speak of on this board because they don't want to deal with wimpy-assed people who hide behind aliases in order to snipe. That shit has to be brought to a squeeling halt.

Aliases are good when used properly. Bad when misused. Misuse of aliases needs to be halted.

the main thing is that people just try to get along and not be mean or spiteful when posting.
