The new rule of one having to become a VIP member here on TER in order to view a providers profile and reviews.  Some gents are afraid to put their credit card info online here due to the Significant Other finding out.

This got me thinking....has anyone tried using greendotonline.com which is a reloadable debit type master card purchased at a local CVS or Walgreens to safeguard their identity?  If so, how has it worked?  

 

The do send out random mailings.

Due to drug trafficking, other illicit monies, money laundering and terrorism GreenDot does require a social security number and a valid identity (birthdate and address).  

The will mail things to your home. - I know, I receive mailings periodically as well as online surveys for using the service.

For providers who use them: they will close your account and refund your money if you deposit too much cash (greater than $4000 a month), even the Premier Card with a higher balance, or have "unusual activities" (very frequent cash deposits i.e. more than once a week) due to regulations that they observe stringently. - I know, they have done it to me before.

If you do not mind having the card attached to your social security number and are comfortable with attempting to opt out of periodic mailings to your home- by all means, GreenDot is accepted on TER, I have successfully paid for my membership with it before.

MoneyPak reloads, which are purchased at pharmacies, do not require any information and are a very easy, anonymous means for a provider to accept a deposit without providing her full legal name and address for a wire transfer; I still use one for this purpose alone.

Pandorat is right; for some reason, the All Access Netspend Visa Gift Card works on TER.  You may register it to a dummy address online.

However, the All-Access Netspend Pre-Paid Debit card will NOT work on the CCBill system and you are equally exposed by having to provide your social security number to its system (though they are less Gestapo-like than GreenDot and do not send out random mailings).

All Access Netspend Visa Gift Cards can be purchased at many gas stations and supermarkets; its a card with a balance in $25, $50, $100 increments activated immediately.

Good anonymous choice for paying for membership here.
