A question about agencies

I have never seen an agency girl. Dunno if I ever will, as I prefer doing business with the owner of the means of production directly.

A few days ago I was having a discussion with a provider friend.

She explained to me that, basically, by the time an agency girl gets done paying for the room, paying for the driver and giving the agency their cut -- the girl maybe has like $80 in her pocket for a session.

I'm not going to draw any conclusions from that. It can be read a lot of ways.

What I want to know is: how close is that number to the fact? If someone pays Miss X who works for an agency $300 ... how much of that does she get to keep after having to pay for her own hotel, driver, the agency and stuff?

Not every situation is the same. Every arrangement is different. I used one agency for years where the lady payed a flat fee per appointment and split the room fee with the agency.  Again, every situation is different.  If it's an in call there is no driver either.

Remember, when a gal works through an agency she is paying them a fee for the services they provide to save her leg work. Advertising, screening, booking hotel rooms and in some cases booking air fare and drivers are all time consuming. Legitimate agencies earn their fee and can also help a new lady get a foot in the door by way of their reputation in the local hobbying community.

If she really said she gets 80 out of 300 than that is simply not true. A lot of times some of the lower end girls try to whine you into leaving them a tip.

The lady who told me that was an indy who had evidently worked for an agency at some point.

But you HAVE figured out why I asked the question. I want to know, if I ever were to see an agency girl, how much tip to leave in order to make sure she walks out of there with at least $X in her pocket after expenses and fees.

Lets suppose a half hour appointment is 150.
For each client she gives the agency 60.
She drives herself to the hotel and pay for the room.

If she makes 5 clients in a day:
She gets 90x5= 450
Agency gets 60x5 = 300

She pays 150 for hotel room and then she ends up with 300 for 5 clients!
The same amount as the agency owner.
The same amount as an Indy lady gets for one hour with only 1 client.
Now does that seems fair to you?
Keep in mind that some agencies do not even pay for advertising anymore, thay already have their regular clients so there is almost no expenses to them besides paying for a phone line.

This is really not your problem.  Any lady who has been around the block a few times can choose to work for an agency or independently.  If a gal chooses to work through an agency and pay them a cut that's on her. I'm not saying you shouldn't tip but you also need not feel obligated to make up the difference of what she is paying the agency. Remember that it is her choice to work through the agency. We are talking about a business arrangement here, not indentured servitude.

Most cuts that I have heard is 100 for the hour goes to the agency. . . 200 for 2 hrs so on and so forth.

Not every girl has a driver so that isnt included in the bottom line.

Some agencies split hotel if the girl only has one appointment but if they have 2 or more, they pay the full.

There are advantages for agency ladies if they do not have the time etc. to do the phone, scheduling, screening, coordinating, emailing and so on. They always have someone who knows where they are and they do not have to worry about advertising etc.

I guess either way you have your business expenses. It all works itself out in the end.

Doesn't the Indy lady need to pay for the hotel room as well?

Seems to me this is the preference of the girl to be Independent or work for an agency. I imagine there has to be alot of work as an Indy screening calls, chasing references and just plan dealing with waste of times. There has to be a value to that. What that valyue is up to girl / agency.

When it comes to a client, he should care less. I'm not saying don't tip. But tipping should be based upon your own generosity and the service received.

If a girl is complaing about paying an agency and deserves something more, well she might want to consider going Indy, and the client might want to go see a provider who will act proffesionally
