That was what the provider paid for the room.

Just like Motel 6, they would keep the lights on for you.

Until the power was cut off.

Good point!  I love the "House Rules" you can leave and come back once.  I wonder if those signs were for the ladies or the customers? Probably a little of both!

Well, I don't know if I'd call the guys who are getting-off at a dump like that "hobbyists" but I certainly agree with you.  I used to frequent a place outside of Boston that was a similar setup except for the fact that the girls were in house and waiting for you.  I narrowly missed getting busted one night when I saw an unmarked cruiser heading down the same quiet street that I was about to turn on to.  I circled around the block and saw LE questioning the brothel owner on his front steps.  They left and he closed up shop for the night but the place got busted the next night.

That was the last AMP or brothel that I ever went to. I know that there are those who would not agree but a generally won't visit ladies who work out of an apartment or other private residence either.

I remember in the early 90's a coworker was getting a hummer every day from some old bat in Chinatown! I would love to see what these women look like. I can't imagine spending 5 hours with anything less than a true courtesan. But this story is hysterical! And the owner was like yeah I got hoes in der with a price sheet up on the front door!

I understand it's really annoying for the neighbors but if they decriminalized the activity and zoned for it properly the issue would go away.  I'm sure some folks would still try to get around the law for tax reasons, etc, but at least it would help dry up the supply of women that want to go to a place like that in a residential neighborhood.  American laws around this type of work are just plain idiotic.
