Check out Capital Grille, Grill 23 and Moo - top 3 in town.

I think you'll find a superb steak at all of the places suggested so far.   In case it matters to you, Abe and Louies and Grille 23 are local/non-chain restaurants.  Good hunting, and feel free to give us your honest take on the Boston steak scene. (note: you may have to mention something sexy in your critique...this an "erotic" review board, after all!)

Lamont's put together a great list, but they're all pretty "generic" top-flight steak houses.

In other words - if I blindfolded you and dropped you in the middle of Morton's, or Capital Grille, you'd have no idea what restaurant you were in, or even what city.

If you're looking for great steak, but are interested in an ambiance that's a little more elegant than your average cookie-cutter high-end steak house, I'd definitely recommend Mooo:

It's even more perfect if you're staying at XV...

Cheers.

It's not fancy, but try Jasper's Summer Shack for lobster.  He does a bourbon glazed lobster that's amazing, along with boiled, stuffed, etc.

Avoid Legal Seafoods, overpriced, bland, wildly overrated ...

My experiences with Ruth's Chris both here in Boston and in Chicago have been STELLAR!  Sorry to hear that the NJ location was disappointing.  Definitely give Boston a try!

For a little energy boost between a morning session and an afternoon session walk to Hooks for the best lobster roll in town.  Grab a beverage and walk down to the waterfront (50 steps) and enjoy lunch watching the harbor.

Try the link with Clio, awesome food and service.  They will even give you a black napkin if you have dark trousers on or a little black dress.

Moo is excellent down to the Chowder

Boston Harbor hotel has great lobster rolls and blood orange martinis.

when it comes to lobster, and steak...I like it simple. No sauces or spices. A great cut of steak doesnt need them...and if your a true lobster fan butter shouuld be enough :)

An outside the box idea, but unique and very very good is the tuna chop/steak at Abe & Louie's, which as people have mentioned has great steak too (and has a very "professionals eating dinner at the bar" scene too).  It's is a daily special that's not on their menu and the quantity they have per day varies.  It's actually the cheek muscle of the tuna and it's a bone-in, approximately 4 inch cube of tuna steak.  I've never seen it anywhere else and it's really good and more steak like than any other cut of fish.

also has a terrific bone-in swordfish steak.

I determined that if I used the phrase "bone-in" it would be more appropriate for this board.  But seriously it is a great dish.

Abe and Louie's is good.  Grill 23 is good.  Skip Smith and Wollensky's, Ruth Chris, and Morton's.  Also, Radius' ribeye is excellent.
