The kind that just a hair blower can cause to shrink to fit form perfectly?

Don't know rope bondage, but want to (consensually) immobilize your lover? The answer might be as close as your local moving & storage stores in the form of the plastic stretch wrap that is used to keep boxes on a pallet and during shipping.
NOTE: Before you even attempt this kind of play, make sure that you purchase safety scissors/shears. These are designed for paramedics, and they can be used to quickly cut through plastic wrap or rope without damaging your play partner. (One side is flat/blunt, so it can run between the skin and the item you want to cut without cutting the person.) If you do not have these in your toy bag, you are a bad Top and don't deserve to play until you own a pair (or two).
There are a couple of forms of this kind of stretch wrap. I'm partial to the stretch wrap dispenser with handles (see link), but there are also longer/wider rolls (probably the better way to go if you have someone helping you, and want to cover more surface area quickly). You'll likely want to start at either the shoulders or the waist and do 3 to 5 "laps" around your partner to "mummify" them. DO NOT COVER THE NECK OR FACE!!! It's perfectly fine to wrap in sections, and you might want to do the upper torso as one column (section) and the legs separately, possibly even leaving the crotch area exposed. Because the stretch wrap sticks to itself, you can always stop, tear it off, have it stick to itself, and then start again on another part of the body.
For stability, if you are going to have your play partner lying down during the scene, start at their shoulders and work your way down to their ankles while they are standing up (hopefully, right next to the bed), and then help them down to the bed as you work towards the ankles . . . then, when it's time to release them, cut them free the opposite direction (from the legs going up).
If you REALLY want to secure them, you might wrap the body first, and then wrap the hands a few times on top of that (as opposed to wrapping the hands and waist at the same time). You can also wrap them to furniture, which can be a lot of fun!
You'll need to "check in" frequently with your play partner to see how the circulation in their hands and other parts of the body are doing. The nice thing about this kind of play is that you can poke holes in the wrap to free a hand or any other body part that needs relief. Another nice thing -- especially for those who don't want marks -- is that you can flog and do other things to the person once they are wrapped, and the wrapping diminishes the effect somewhat (but not completely). This is also a really cool way to do tickling (maybe with strategic holes made in the stretch wrap) or the Wartenberg pinwheel. It depends on how hydrated your play partner is and other factors, but you should be able to play this way for 10 to 30 minutes before you need to (at least partially) start releasing them. You do have to be cognizant that this is still plastic, and exposure to anything hot could MELT the plastic, and burn your poor submissive, so "fire play" is strictly verboten.
This is not a complete "how to" guide, but most of the basics. If you haven't done this kind of play before, but it sounds fun, try it out a little bit on yourself before doing it on others. You can wrap your own legs and waist, and then cut yourself out, to get a sense of how it feels.
