Years ago I was watching a film made by the well-known BDSM entrepreneur Carter Stevens, who produced films, magazines, and newspapers carried in adult bookstores.  

There was a female submissive in a scene where she was about to get spanked, tied up, nipple-clamped etc. As she got down on her knees for a certain position, she said the floor was too hard and asked for a pillow for her "comfort."

Such is the mindset of a submissive- good "scene" pain/discomfort, and bad "real life" pain/discomfort.
