Let me add my two cents. There are documented cases of fire play gone horribly wrong. Please, take the time to learn and practice with a mentor in person, take live classes at any national kink event, but do not do this without learning in person from someone experienced. Just last weekend Phoenix had a demo and live play with one of our well known local mentors, at the Kink Karnival. Fire play is awesome, from flash cotton for that wow factor, to fire cupping that can be therapy as well as intense play, to fire floggings and whippings, but safety is always the first requirement.

I am very interesting in learning more about this activity.  I just purchased a book that is pretty much an 101 type of publication but from my understanding, one needs to have someone show and teach this activity because of safety concerns.

I'm located in Dallas but travel to wonderful Chicago quite frequently.  So if there are any suggestions from anyone, it would really be appreciated!

Thanks!
Elisabeth

Kink Academy has several on-line instructional classes on fire play.  I'll also PM you.

I'm going to look at that.   Although I'm familiar with that site, do they charge for the online lessons???

Kink Academy is very reasonably priced...  $100 per year for 500+ tutorial videos.  The best bargain in BDSM!

Couldn't agree with you more, Bridget Ballard!  This is definitely edge play and there's potential for serious burns.  I have a friend who won't do fire cupping because she was permanently scarred from someone doing it wrong.   :-(

Yes.  I've heard that you just simply MUST learn from a mentor before ever trying it on your own.  Even if one studies, etc,. that mentoring personally is prime and necessary.

Thanks for all of the input, everyone!  It's appreciated more than you know!

Sincerely,
Elisabeth

It's about your confidence level and the sub you play with.  It's a form of branding and the mark does not look like a brand.  I have been doing fire play for over 10 years.  Yes, you must be careful and very skilled.  Mostly, you must have the balls to do it.
