The subject of this post is borrowed from a similar post on the General Discussion board titled "Nothing but DATY" in which the question is posed to providers about how they would feel about a guy who only wanted to DATY during the whole session.
I would have been interested in seeing the reaction if I asked the same question about DATO but I was too embarrassed to do it so I thought I'd post it here where it might be better received.

Good point: Whether DATY or DATO there are risks. One with DATO is transmigration of hepatitis (I have had hep A and am fully vaccinated against B) but here are many others. Fecal to oral transmision of disease is common and includes polio (not if you're vaccinated) as well as typhoid etc. I am not sure of the frequenter and exact dangers. To be clear, I got hepatitis A while living in France and eating the wonderful raw Oysters from the area because like may places in the US there can be contamination of water. I am just not sure of the actual risk of accepting one person's fecal matter into a normal GI tract. I can say DATY is also fraught with possibilities. (I used to keep better track of this but have over the last few years been deep into another field and working very hard.) I will try to get more precise data and give you a better answer.
Well, I can tell you that the idea of "Fecal to oral transmission" is a deal breaker for me with or without the possibility of transmitting disease.
I worried more about this before I did it the first time but in reality, at least for me, it is not anatomically possible to penetrate far enough to encounter anything "Fecal" in nature, assume basic cleanliness, of course. Now that I've done it I tend to think french kissing has (many) more health risks. I have encountered people on forums who have done this for many years and suffered no health effects and that doesn't surprise me any more.
