Personally, I'd recommend joining Threshold, which is the L.A. area's largest non-profit, pansexual BDSM lifestyle club, where you could learn as a couple at one of the many classes that they hold, and that would also be a great place to observe others playing (at our play parties) and to possibly find a mentor.  (Link to Threshold below.)  Their next new member orientation is on 10/15, and Halloween is usually one of the biggest parties.  Lifestylers are notoriously cool about showing newbies "the ropes", as it were.

If you are shy and don't want to play in public, almost all Dommes love to see couples as clients and fulfill this sort of scenario, so it's a just a matter of deciding if you want to do so in a pro dungeon setting or with an independent provider.  Max Fisch and Dickie Virgin have provider listings.  You can also do an advanced search on TER.
