I agree that it's edgy play and that it shouldn't even be considered unless the players have all that you've listed (CPR and a way to reclaim your air). That goes for all of it, regardless if it's hands, a plastic bag or a hose up your nose.

But, make no mistake: asphyxiophilia IS life-endangering. It's also brain-endangering; the lack of oxygen will damage the brain even if it doesn't kill you. There's nothing POTENTIALLY endangering about it. It is what it is.

For the record, I think it's one of the most bone-headed ways to play. The BDSM playground is already and inherently less safe than regular sexual activities. This is asking for trouble in NON-providing circles where money isn't even an issue; imagine how much worse it can be for a provider if something unexpected (and perhaps deadly) happens?
