I agree with your logic, but I would expect to see the entrance of real massage therapists with the rising prices. Too many of the good ones have left. I miss Romy, Paula and a couple of others.

An understandable vent with sentiment that I share
The easy answer is perceived market value - i.e. What is everyone else charging - but with no qualitative filter
Essentially - this is the going rate regardless of service quality, therefore that is what I will charge
Hopefully market dynamics will kick in with the help of TER and word of mouth. Many of the established providers can get their rates because they have built reputation and relationships and frankly - are worth Tim
The newbies will get little repeat business and over time will either improve, drop prices or disappear
At least ; that's how it should work . Meanwhile, if you are on of the 'early adopters' you may have to reconcile yourself with some poor experiences
Your bigger question is more interesting - why are rates generally trending Upwards?
Riding confidence in the economy, people have more disposable income, a number of solid providers are pushing rates up - all are factors. Bottom line - providers are asking for AND getting higher rates. Guys are paying it.
Good for the girls - bad for the guys - could be bad for the hobby in Atlanta overall as it will introduce artificial dynamics - a 'bubble' if you like that is probably not sustainable
