Why say TER Reviewed?

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me why some "new" providers highlight "TER REVIEWED" in their ads, but when you go to their reviews, they are often 4's, 5's and 6's in performance?  Doesn't this defeat their purpose of getting clients?

Inquiring minds want to know!

If you investigate it will be a gal working for a pimp and that is the only way they know to get "net-cred" kinda like "street cred" but on the internet .. these ladies and pimply gents think that by simply saying hey ter approves of me then you should come and see me..
alot of the times the girls pimps will do the reviews or have their friends set up accounts to review the girls so they can get their names out there .. I remember back in the day when you had to have a ter reviewed seal on your site to be allowed to be listed here on ter.. now days so long as you gotta post on a classified site looks like you are good to go ..
anyway just what i think about things..

a) It helps "legitmize" them from out and out scam, B&S, etc.

b) TER carries a heavy brand recognition so many less informed gents don't bother checking.  Said guys assuming the fact they are TER reviewed and the fact they mention it must mean they are good.  Also remember, only VIP gents will see the numerics and "juicy details."

c) Everything in the hobby is YMMV - so the reviews may be good but numerics bad, or they just are honestly hoping to improve.

Of course, there is also the possibility they are not the brightest of bulbs too.

Coyoty, I think that it was more of a rhetoric question.  I think the poster knows these answers.  LOL

Then he sholuld have phrased it as a statment and not a question.  Guess I am not good at reading others intent behind and can only take at face value what is written or asked.

I agree Coyote.  The OP's post reads like a question and not a statement.  I think they do it to make their ads seem more legit.

I thought rhetorical questions were asked more yes/no format with no answer really expected.  Like "does a pig fly?"  "Does a wild bear sh*t in the woods?" or my favorite "Does a one legged duck swim in a circle?"

It wasn't rhetorical.  It's obviously a "marketing" strategy, but it escapes me how whomever is posting their ads thinks it's GOOD marketing.  Word of mouth is always the best advertising, which is what makes TER such a valuable resource.
