You know how you give your home an extra-deep clean when company’s coming over? I heard the city’s been doing the same, pulling out all the stops to make Atlanta shine for FIFA World Cup June - July.  

More forms of payment, station and gate improvements, new rail cars.

Are we talking actual brand new rail cars? or just giving the current ones a fancy FIFA-themed poster wrap takeover. Must be perks of hosting, go Atlanta!

They're supposed to be brand new and more efficient. I cant wait to see how the city comes alive for it!

One of the things that is of critical importance is that "Allegedly" they are improving security on MARTA-----too many stabbing, robberies, murder, etc....It isn't like the New York Subways----but security has been bad since the early 80's---I recall a few years ago taking MARTA to a Falcons game----dude was eyeballing my wife's watch and looking for an opportunity to snatch it----fortunately there was an Atlanta Police Officer riding that car----my wife alerted the officer---just with a head bob and eye contact---he got the message and the dude was let us say "Thwarted" from his obvious attempt---all the officer had to do was stand up and stand over the guy .....message received ! Dude exited as soon as we arrived inside the stadium---he was deterred from that effort....but likely not from others!   Also----a very good friend of mine---a True Texan---rode MARTA in town for a meeting from the Airport....a fella tried to swipe his Ostrich Hide Brief Case----my friend had a good time kicking this fella's ass---was cheered by the other riders---they were finally able to disengage my friend from the engagement-had the fella on the floor kicking him with his boots-western style---(he loved it and probably would have seriously injured the fella or killed him)  (Each of the incidence mentioned occurred during full daylight)---so if you are coming to Atlanta for any reason and have to ride MARTA----keep your head on a Swivel  !!  The bad element of Atlanta is full of people who are always looking for low hanging fruit !
