The Green River Killer:

Ridgway's contempt for women in general and prostitutes in particular was clear in his plea bargain statement:

"I picked prostitutes as my victims because I hate most prostitutes and I did not want to pay them for sex. I also picked prostitutes as victims because they were easy to pick up without being noticed. I knew they would not be reported missing right away and might never be reported missing. I picked prostitutes because I thought I could kill as many of them as I wanted without getting caught."

The Genesee River Strangler:

"Once a killer like this is captured," writes McCrary, "we always compare him against our profile.  Shawcross was much as we had envisioned him."

He was a regular john, white, married, menially employed, living near the pick-up scenes, with a history of sexually violent crimes.  He often fished in the Genesee River Gorge and he'd gone unsuspected by most of the prostitutes.  The profilers had gotten his age wrong by ten years or so, but they viewed his time spent in prison as tantamount to putting his sexual crimes on hold.  Once freed, he'd resumed as if he'd never been put away.

Girls, we are in serious danger. My incident in Los Angeles has really brought into focus how easily I could have been a victim of far worse. I am seriously considering forming an association for us ladies that will somehow be helpful in many different ways for protection, legal services, health services, child care, insurance, counseling, trauma/crisis recovery, and more. I can't do it alone though. I need help from providers and hobbiest as well. Any attorneys out there who would contribute legal advice or services, psychologists who might offer research work, doctors, other professionals .... This has been a one sided business for two long. I think with the arrival of TER we can form a network that will help provide security and a sense of sanity out of the madness. Another way to help is any providers who would volunteer in crises counseling ....

I will call it Mary Magdeline Ministries, MMM for short. Not because of religious reasons, but because the  definition of "minister" is to help or assist in a benevolent manner, those in need or distress.

Now, who's willing to minister with me?

I am not sure about your MMM idea.
However, the Green River killer and others like him prey on street girls.  While his or anyone's violence against women of any type is clearly wrong, his logic was pretty much right on.  Street girls are usually much less educated, lower income, without sophistication.  As such they made excellent targets for him.  The women on TER are usually quite the opposite and attract a very different clientele.

Yes you are right. But that does not exclude us from danger I am afraid. I spoke to someone who will remain unnamed recently and was told that about every three weeks or so a TER lady somewhere comes up dead. Usually it is a pimp or boyfriend, lover, husband etc. that does it but there are all kinds of psychos and they use all different means to find victims. And just like I exposed myself to danger through someone who wasn't a client, and if I had been killed nobody would have put it together that I was a TER lady, there is danger all around and being a provider just gives some people the reason to think of us as disposable.

And I know myself, I feel more comfortable with gentlemen that use TER, even though it is no guarantee of safety any more than anything else.

They always say its the ones you think you can trust that turn out to be the sociopathic weirdos....
