While I know that a lot of folks are divided on the use of alias's, the reality is that there is a reason for them to be part of TER. I'm for them and for what there intended uses are.

While I totally disagree with them being used as a weapon, the bottom line fact is that anybody is gonna say what they want and only the mods will decide what stays, what goes, and what gets flipped. We all have the choice in engaging or not engaging with it. I'm of the belief that most of the alias posts and posters are irrelevant anyway, but that's just me.

At the end of the day, it's the mods opinions and decision making on the alias's posts and actions that will determine what the success (or failure) of the board interaction will be concerning this matter. The members will only react to it, not react to it, participate or not participate.

I appreciate the 'gustsy' comment but I have no interest in taking the mods on nor am I trying to. I'm simply stating the obvious, that the choices of the mods are what will ultimately set the tone of this board no matter how positive, negative, or neutral the commentary is. Members and alias's alike.
They'll then decide to participate or not.

The mods (as I understand it) have board policies that they have VOUNTEERED to help enforce.

Provided posters are within those guidelines, they have (theoretically) have little "authority" to set the tempo or "personality" of the board.

Just as some enforcement individuals overstep their authority on occasion, some mods do as well.  But I don't see anything on the Atlanta board that looks to me like there's a mod power-grab.

The board is more about the individuals that post here, and like everywhere, one or two can cause quite a dust-up.  It's more about the participants than the mods and, for what it's worth, I didn't see it like you were "taking on the mods", but I do think you ascribe them more power to set the tone of the board than they're inclined to take.

I think you get the idea.  I've met a handful of the guys in person and talked at length to several more.  Mostly, they're (like I'm not, lol) just a bunch of horny opinionated assholes that got tricked into free VIP in exchange for a few minutes of approving posts.  Then the reality hits them of how much more work it is, and we have to beg to use the corporate jet.  A lot of mods leave on their own because it frankly stops being fun after a while.

There certainly are guys that love the power and pressure girls for free pussy.  They usually disappear without a trace.  We are watched pretty closely and any time an accusation comes up, it's looked at seriously.  I won't get into the legalities, but a mod trading sex for favors puts the site in some serious legal hazard, so they don't take it lightly.

TER VIP member = pays ladies, reviews them, and creates a profile through discussion and contribution that is visible to all. They can be pm'd for info as well, thus a legitimate member with profile.

To use an alias, you must be a VIP member.  They contribute to the site in some manner.  You may not like what they say, which is fair, but they are valuable to the site either by spending money, writing reviews, being reviewed or volunteering as mods.  Other than the last one, the others all benefit the site.  The mods are purely blood sucking parasites, lol.

Like any judicial body, the context behind which element is stressed, and how certain rules are interpreted or enforced give the mods a great deal of power.  The only limits they really have are imposed by appeals to admin which rarely if ever override a mod opinion and the sheer volume of crap they have to put up with and process.

So in many ways if they want to, they do set the tone for the board.

Guys like LP tend to take pretty neutral tone and is usually pretty good at separating his mod opinion from his personal opinion.  Gambler is another that does a good job of segregating his mod power from his membership opinions.  I think the reason he trolls this board as often as he does is because he does not mod on it and likes to tell me to fuck off along with a few other friends.  Others are not as balanced.  

However, I would not volunteer for the job, free membership means nothing to me, I have more than a year in the bank.  I would not want to give up the right to write reviews and deal with the integrity issue of possibly seeing ladies on a board I moderate.  Several mods have suggested I step up to the role, and the cost just isn't worth it, let alone the time commitment vs benefit.

All that said, some times a mod does step out of line or encourages a degree of hostility that does not add value and allow messages to post that could be interpreted as violating the rules of TER, if that happens, it is fair to call foul.  Good mods get the difference of opinion, the others get personal.  I admit sometimes I have gone too far in objecting, in others, I have had mods reach out to me and work to correct a thread.  The mods like Roanoke and myself are human, sometimes tolerance must be extended.

In terms of the context of the OP, alias post have several valid reasons.  Where they cross the line is in launching personal assaults.  When allias are used for simple bullying and meanness, I think they are wrong.  Nasty behavior still occurs when you use your handle, again I admit to having done that in the past, probably will in the future.  But when a hobbiest or provider use their handle, it can and will impact their reception in the market.  Hence it reflects personal accountability.

So with the tune of Judy Collins 'send in the clowns' playing in the background, I await the storm of alias replies.  I really don't care what your opinion is, but I do enjoy humming that tune.

I'm aware that alias's are VIP and as stated in the original post, I understand what the intention of TER having them is (as explained on the main page).

But when it's taken and used as a weapon for no other reason than to be a douche, at that point they have abused the privilege of being VIP IMO. As a consumer,I don't have time to sort through the good and bad alias posts. There's already enough of doing that in non-alias posts! Because a large percentage of the alias posts are ridiculous anyway and bring nothing to the community or to my personal TER experience, I consider them irrelevant, as is my right. I've contributed to the ATL community in the best way I've been able and I believe my posts and reviews ( whether you agree or disagree with them lol) shows that.

I still stick to and want to remind that my original point was that the editing decisions made by the mods on this board, considering their taste, ultimately sets the tone overall. Contributing VIP's will decide whether they want to participate or not. Not saying that's good or bad, just stating the fact....you blood sucking parasite lol!
