Mistakes can happen to any of us ... but taking responsibility like this is truely admirable!
Whitney, thank you for offering such a classy example of an act that others hopefully can follow in the future when similar mistakes are made.
Gentle.
On a very recent posting from a provider that just announced that she was going independent I decided to help her started since I have a very soft spot for anybody that starts a business not to mention that she is attractive. I gave her a call and set-up an appointment. She tells me that she is going to have a room on the Hyatt downtown and I could meet her there. She did not know the address but it was the only one in Downtown (Grand Hyatt there is only one in downtown). At the appropriate time I drive downtown, find parking not an easy feat and proceed to call her to get the room number. She tells me that she made the same mistake and is not the Grand Hyatt but the Hyatt Place couple blocks further on Peachtree. Please be mindful that is 93 outside so I go walking to the Hyatt Place and go to the room number given. Knock and no answer. I call the lady again and then she tells me that she is not downtown but in Hyatt place Buckhead. At this time I said thank you very much maybe another time. Never offer an apology, nor send an email or text apologizing. Should I write a review? What will you do
her a map, all you can really do is confirm the exact address of your appointment next time.
I always confirm the address of my hotel with providers every time and have prevented numerous location mistakes from occurring. It only takes a few seconds on the front end to avoid wasting hours on the back end.
I also find that indies tend to make more mistakes regarding address locations than agencies, which is yet another reason why I prefer dealing with agencies instead of indies.
I did confirm. She kept saying Hyat Downtown. ...................
the exact address.
Doing so would have only taken a few seconds and would have enabled you and WC to know exactly where she was located.
Women, Directions, Women, Directions...... A good rule to use is always first ask a women giving directions if North Carolina is North or South of South Carolina.
With the info you've given us, it could be any of about 2 people. You should either just say it so she can defend herself or be vague enough that we couldn't all figure it out. This was just childish.
And AwCrap everyone already knows who hes referring to. Apparently you and the provider in question are newbies, how do you conduct business without confirming the address and time of appointment LMAO.
Alex you only have yourself to blame, gas is around 3.85 a gallon. Why are you driving around the city of Atlanta without the complete address? Basically without an address your on a wild goose chase.
My 0.03 of advice never drive anywhere without logging in an address to your GPS.
just lucky nobody answered when he knocked on the door at the wrong hotel - would have been hilarious/tragic if it was a good looking woman - and he had presumed to make the normal advances ....
But bballs she never gave him a complete address. A smart hobbyist would never drive to a location without an address.
it isn't his fault
If someone told me to meet them at the Buckhead Ritz, I wouldn't ask for a street address; if they meant a different hotel that is completely their fault
this is her fault, 100%, sorry
But you have to place some of the blame on the OP.
For example if a provider says to me hey handsome, meet me at the Hyatt downtown. The first question im going to ask her, baby whats the address.
As soon as she tells me she doesn't know the address, I will immediately think to myself shes to incompetent to do business with. Never confirm an appointment with someone who doesn't know where they are LMAO.
BTW how does one not no where they are? LMAO LOL

Sorry, I just couldn't resist, but I am with Bballs on this one. In this age of navigation systems and smart phones, I wouldn't think to ask for an address from a local lady if she gave me the name of a well known hotel in the area, not if she and I well both local residents that is.
No this one is all on the lady. I can't fault the OP for assuming a local lady at least knew where the fuck she was located.
Navigation system doesn't work without an address. It doesn't matter how long you have lived in the city, or how much you think you know. There are too many with same names. There is only Grand Hyatt but there are two Hyatt Places on Peachtree Rd, NE,((1) 330 Peachtree Street NE. (2)3242 Peachtree Road NE
Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30305 (3) G. Hyatt. 3300 Peachtree Road Northeast ) and which one would you pick? Then these fucking hotels change management companies all the time. Hyatt to Marriott to Starwood to whatever. My bet is, OP walked to the 3242 Peachtree.
OP should have got the address the second time. Going to the wrong hotel and knocking on the wrong door is on OP, all by his lonesome self.
Coming on the board demanding an apology as if OP is right along is not right. Both made mistakes, she not having the address first, OP for not asking for the address after going to the wrong hotel first.
You may call me "White Knight". This type of holier than thou attitude, I can't agree with.
See the post below by bballs. I agree that everyone should be able to figure it out. Hot newly independent providers posting on the board. Gee, who could that be? (that's sarcasm for the reading challenged). My point was that he's trying and failing to appear to have taken the high road by not naming her when anyone with a 3rd grade education (sorry balls) could deduce the identity. Since he was de facto naming her, why not just do so? We weren't there, so we have only his take on it until she responds. Sounds like she wasted his time by being an airhead, but as a former agency provider, it's apparent that she doesn't know the city real well. Lacking any public response from her, I'd be expecting her to contact him with an offer to make it right. Still, I know that there are 3 sides to every story and we've only heard one.
There is no need to write a review because you don't know her appearance, there was no performance, and the issues of her familiarity with locations in Atlanta has been fleshed out here. I understand the frustration and the let down you feel, and an apology might have been nice--and since I don't know the timing, perhaps if this was not too long ago you might still receive one. You said you had a soft spot for the young lady starting out as an Indy and that you find her attractive. Be a mensch and let these positive feelings continue to guide you so that if she hasn't already figured out the various locations in Atlanta as well as the need to be very, very precise with the exact name and address of her hotel (or any future non-hotel location she might use), you can be a big help to her and the rest of the community by a polite email letting her know you are sorry that you didn't get to see her and then give her some polite instruction on these matters. From her perspective, she did get a hotel room, in a very nice hotel in fact, and through her own confusion cost herself the chance to earn her fee for your appointment that was missed and she also did not get to enjoy whatever pleasure you would have provided for her.
Perhaps if the young lady reads this she'll invest in some form of user-friendly tourist map of Atlanta that might show major hotels and landmarks (Dear, if you are reading this, go out the front of the hotel to Peachtree Road, turn LEFT, and go up Peachtree a few blocks until you reach Lenox Square Mall, then find a book store inside, it should have maps. Or maybe there might be a good free one at the concierge desk in the mall). If anyone is dying to know who the lost girl was, perhaps they might PM you, but hopefully this was a learning opportunity and won't be repeated.
because I didn't ask for the address of the hotel, the second time and decided to take it upon myself and decided to walk to the closest hotel I could find from the 1st wrong hotel on my own. Ended up in the wrong hotel and knocked on the wrong door a second time. When the provider called, I was hot, pissed off, and told her some other time then, came on TER told everyone that the provider doesn't know the difference between Downtown Atlanta and Buckhead and asked whether I should write a review about the provider about not knowing the difference between Buckhead and downtown when, in reality, the first hotel is listed as in Buckhead and the second hotel has two locations on the same Peachtree St, one listed as Downtown/Buckhead and the other listed as Downtown. To top it all, all three hotels are on the same street. I still want any apology from the provider, even though I assumed a lot and made an "ass of myself"
How is that for a review? You edit or just cut and paste.
Permission hereby granted all types of reproduction of the above as long as it contains the word Edited when edited or verbatim when not edited.
...unclear where she is in the city she's now an indie in?
I ain't saying shit...

When I get a sudden influx of a calls and emails, I disable my site to limit this. I see very limited clients, and only when I am interested in accepting new friends is my website really of any use to me. I prefer to fly semi-UTR when I am not scheduling anyone new. I like to keep up with what's going on the hobby world via the board, but don't really need the site. When I have an available spot on my dance card, I'll put it back up.
sharing this information with us all.
While you were not obligated to do so, your openness and transparency are much appreciated. It says a lot about your character.
I'm out of town till 18th...gonna try after that.
Sir Cumalot
not like phone sex though. My GPS is a girl.
Sorry she sent you on a wild chicken chase.
I guess this board does carry some weight. I have just received an apology from the lady and it was accepted. I was just frustated about having to jugle my work schedule and them go into a wild goose chase. Additionally, out of respect for the Lady I did not mention her name. Thanks all of you for your feedback.
know you were talking about WC.
If you truly respected the lady, you would have discussed this with her "behind closed doors" instead of posting a thinly disguised rant that didn't really protect the rest of the field (of hobbyists).
Didn't you learn anything from the roanoke1979 / Alyssa Anderson thread from a couple of weeks ago?
Rowanoake was ripping pissed, as he said later because his feelings were hurt - he and AA had a prior relationship that was in his mind violated - he stressed several times how much he likes her (I believe he stated he "digs" her).
This dude was puzzled and genuinely asking for advice on how to react - he asked for example if he should write a review, and learned from several responses there is no such thing as an NCNS review. He declared no "respect" for her, and as there was no pre-existing relationship of any kind, owes her no respect per se - They had never met - at all - and as far as he knew when he made the post, they never would. Not really appropriate to expect him to communicate with her "behind closed doors" - he'd taken more than reasonable measures and struck out.
I didn't catch a huge rant element in his post either personally.
good points.
Perhaps "rant" wasn't a good choice of term in this particular case.
I still believe the original poster could have settled this with Whitney behind closed doors if he had really wanted to. Instead, he chose to publicly shame her by making his post. Even if he didn't explicitly name her, he left enough good clues as to her identity.
The original poster's thread, much like roanoke1979's thread, was self serving. By not directly naming Whitney in the first place, he had no intention of protecting the field of hobbyists. Instead, he wanted to subtly "punish" Whitney for wasting his time.
His actions will not be forgotten.
I give Whitney all the credit for coming forwards and accepting responsibility for her actions. However, one wonders if she would have done so if the original poster had not created his thread and had not resolved their issue behind closed doors either.

...on this board to get the apology u should have already received.
Sir Cumalot
I am frequently asked for directions to places in and around town. I am not surprised at all by the lady's confusion. Most people that spend the majority of their time in Atlanta's suburbs think of Buckhead and Midtown as being downtown. I hear them described this way all the time. I wouldn't blame her so much as I would the suburban mindset.
Z
She probably would have called to apologize ASAP.
Thank you AlexATL for not saying my name.
For everyone else ... I am not making an excuse just an explanation.
I made the reservation online and they gave me the address to the hotel downtown. I went there to check in and was told that I was in the wrong hotel. So I went to where they told me and tried to check in there. I was still in the wrong hotel. Looks like the third time was the charm because this one had my reservation.
Honestly I had no clue as to how that happened but if you go to the Hyatt's web site you have to go through 3 pages until you can find the correct address of the one in Buckhead.
I will take full responsibility of this mistake and I promise to make it up to AlexATL! Plus I got some great experience form this.
No excuse! Even though I am a blonde. This one was on me!
I promise I will know where the f**k I am from now on. lol
Whitney
It takes a classy lady to admit when shes wrong, you've gained a lot of respect.
I'm Glad you and Alex worked things out.
I'm not judge & jury about who was wrong or whether she fixed it. I do cling to the point that he didn't need to bring it to the board to get it fixed.
Not a judge or jury of one myself, but a slightly slanted look at that post might reveal that some providers wouldn't apologize if they knew no one else was going to know what happened, and she might just let that one go because there would be no review, and there are plenty of other fish in the sea; and with no real repercussions from the guy she wouldn't have to worry about a possible negative 'stain' on her reputation.
Now, again, not casting any aspersions on anyone, but if you look at this board and go back several years, it seems that when someone, guy or gal is called out for a 'minor "malfunction"' then it seems to look like a resolution between parties is happening, or has happened, and we all move on.
This board is supposed to be about information, good and bad, so we as hobbyists and providers can educate, learn, and be 'informed consumers', whether we are the buyer or seller; so any lack of pertinent info can result in a TOFTT that either makes the guy make a bad choice and write a bad review, possibly causing a down-turn in a ladies' business, or having a great time and causing a surge in her business, and many happy guys out there waiting on that review, either way.
Happy hunting and play nice, kids.

The Hyatt in Buckhead and Downtown are both located on Peachtree in Atlanta. I was told to goto the Hyatt in Atlanta on Peachtree and went to the one downtown....when it was the one in Buckhead.

Of course it is a national joke about how many streets named Peachtree there are in Atlanta, but for visitors or even locals who might not come inside the perimeter all that much, I'll just share that Peachtree Street is the name downtown and up through midtown, but once you get north of the Brookwood interchange and sorry little excuse of a train station, then it becomes Peachtree ROAD, so Road means Buckhead, Street means downtown. And I probably lived here close to ten years before realizing that distinction and even had an office on ptree for a few of those years.
Straight out told the truth. Great way to be.

If you are new to the Downtown/Buckhead duo, easy to get confused. The second time, you should have asked for the address, instead being know (I know this area like back of my hand) it all. Both of you were confused and ended up being blind leading the blind. Why don't apologize to each other and make up instead of being a little cry baby about it.
