You ladies who use Muse Cube. I have had nothing but TROUBLE trying to download your pics!! I don't know what the problem is, but, if a potential client wants to see your pics, and can't download those pics, he'll just move on!!
I have PS2 operating system, I am on DSL, and I don't have any blocks!

withoutguilt3088 reads

You are not serious about having PS2 operating system are you. IBM discountinued PS2 OS in the mid 80's.

If you are still using PS2, only option is start prating. You might need divine intervention to get even the Internet access working.

I know what you are going to say, it is working and you have been using it for years. In that case, there three possibilities: (1) You Modfied PS2 OS to work on the World Wide Web and developed your own browser, (2) You paid enormous amount of money to someone to do #1, (3) either your are mistaken or it is a typo

Peace, Love and Prosperity to all

You are right. I don't know what possessed me to write PS2, other than I used to work for IBM. It must have been something that was stored in my brain, or what's left of it.LOL
The PS2 was a disaster!!
I intended to say the XP home version.
Thank you, "without guilt", for snapping out of my reverie!
Happy Holidays to you too!

With XP Home Version you should not have any problem downloding pictures. Eventhough I am ardent and confirmed Mac user, I keep few Windows Machines to kick around. Would'nt consider myself an expert on Microsoft, UNIX, another story.

Microsoft has done something screwy with XP, try and reinstall XP, and instead clicking Easy Install, go to select files and select all files.

Same scenario, happened to me once and reinstalling XP solved it. Good Luck

Now, I made a mistake, I am completely aware of the fact it was OS 2 was the IBM OS. In fact it was the first 32-bit OS in the market and as far as speed, it was a screamer. Have used it develop many programs, wish it was still on the market instead of the Microsoft OS cra......p.

Now PS2 stands for Personal System 2, not Play Station 2 commonly used to play game and is by Sony. On the otherhand, IBM PS2 was the second generation PC and had a Mouse, that is the reason, even today PC vendors state PS2 compatible mouse.

"Others innovate and Microsoft Profit"

Yes as all Mac users, I am fanatic when comes to my Mac's.

So, any one in the market for personal computer, should take look at Consumer Reports before buying a computer. You can see it ZD Net personal techology section and you can get to ZD net via Yahoo or any other portal of your choice.

To Err is Human and to understand and forgive is golden

And, here, I used to maintain a rather large "community" of IBM PS/2 machines ... I thought the PS/2 designation referred to the hardware line, NOT an Operating System??!!?? (I know it's been a while, but have I blocked out of my feeble memory an O/S for the PS/2??)

PS/2 model 70's and 80's were POWERHOUSE machines!! And how about that IBM design that allowed you to completely disassemble the PS/2 without any tools!! (Except that funky little "prybar" they included that seldom stayed in the PC ...)

Thanks for bringing back old memories ...

I started "computing" in the 60's with one of the first IBM 360/30's in the town I lived in (1968).

Talk about a high powered computer!  Read a record, write a record, print a record.  Then do it again, over and over.  NO display screen, No typewriter console.  It only took whole room (temperature and humidity controlled) of raised floorspace to house what was essentially a glorified calculator.

Anyone remember having to "wire" the card readers???

We used to go to the keypunch room, and collect the "chads" from all the machines and take them to ballgames.  It would really
piss people off when we threw them in the air, getting them in everyone's hair and mohair sweaters.

Reading a hex-dump when the program "abended"...AGAIN.

Go to K-Mart, buy any plastic Casio wristwatch and it will have 10X the processing power that IBM 360 machine did.

Later on, Unix was the big thing.  Forget all you know about Assembler, Cobol, Bal, CICS, MVS/JES. Ucc1, Ucc7 - NOW you are a Unix "CSA".

At LEAST IBM had "Messages and Codes" for what was wrong with the computer.  In the Unix world all you would see was men in white coats standing around "We're down, but damned if I know why!"  If in doubt $! ($bang/reboot), transactions were called pups/lac's/irps.

The next software release for Unix was waiting for someone to find and open a new Egyptian Tomb so they could get some more new cryptic symbols from the Hieroglyphics.

I'll give a tip of my hat to Unix for one thing - I REALLY miss the old word text only game called "Adventure" (remember "Wave Rod", and "Xyzzy"???).

I wish I could find a version that would work on XP since we cannot really access the O/S anymore.

Microsoft has it covered.  They release an Operating System that they KNOW to have flaws, then they send you the fixes in a "new" release and have the balls to CHARGE you for them!!!

Ah!, those were the "good ole days".

...it hooked me on a lifetime of computer gaming.  Played it on  AT&T's mainframe from home, using a telephone acoustic coupler hooked to a keyboard with crazy-paper printout.  Great game.

'Zork' was the only thing that ever came close.

They had that word programmed into the S/W, we got a good laugh out of that...

JG, I was a chemist who worked on the 360 systems. We were trying to keep the mainframe from burning up from the heat generated in doing the operations. There were three  very large frames, the CPU or central processing unit, the PDU or power distribution unit, and the CDU, or the cooling distribution unit. The CDU had to cool the computer to keep it from burning up.
There was a concern for a power down situation. One of the "solutions" was to have a huge fly wheel on the roof of the building, which would be released when power failed and a large weight would be released from the roof, and start the fly wheel spinning. IBM got many patents on crazy things like theses. My concerns were much more mundane. I had to invent means of providing a thermal conduction medium between power supplies, and the cooling coils. Heat dissipation is still a concern, but with today's technology, much less heat is generated.
IBM has(or had) a warehouse in Saugerties (sp?) NY, and they have stored all of the generations of hardware in a museum-like  building. I haven't been in it in 30 years and some day, I must take a special trip to NY to renew memories.
So much for memories!!

JohnGraves2881 reads

There seem to be enough old “IBM Mainframers” out there that some of you should remember this.

Remember when IBM CE’s would move a suspected bad part to another location in the machine to try to isolate whatever part was causing the machine to fail?

“On the way to a service call where a computer was down at a local bank, causing the entire online network to be out of service, two CE’s were driving down the road when they had a flat tire on the left rear of the car.  They pulled over, jacked the car up, and proceeded to swap the flat tire to the right rear, and continued down the road two more blocks just to prove that the tire was actually flat”

I HATED the IBM philosophy of assuming a machine failure was caused by a non IBM component until it could be PROVEN to be the responsibility of IBM.  Other vendors would come to help get it fixed, while IBM would delay responding until the other vendors PROVED that it was an IBM part causing the failure.

You could run the online applications for an entire Company with a mainframe that had less processing power than is currently found in small hand-held processors, wristwatches, and alarm systems, not to mention PC’s.

O2 - you mentioned "cooling towers" on the roof of buildings.  Remember when the water in those towers froze on cold nights in the Wintertime, bringing "down" the mainframes 4 floors below?

Remember the old lame excuse/cop out we have ALWAYS heard -

"I'm sorry, but the COMPUTER made a mistake" ???

Just stop a minute to think HOW FAR our technology has progressed since, say 1903…

I guess it shows my age...but when I read "PS2" I immediately thought of Playstation 2!  :cP

Rin Tin:

There nothing wrong with my MuseCube link and it works just fine...I have chosen to take down my pics on there because I'm updating the photos and it's also my professional website for photo shoots and assignments.  I'll be glad to email photos - no problem at all!  I have a lot of requests that come through MuseCube and they are not very "serious" about appointments....so I move on also.  We have a safety issue going on in Atlanta, as I'm sure that you are aware of this, and I am very careful as to my pics on my website right now.

Rin, just email me or backchannel me - I'll be glad to get back in contact with you, as would any lady on here who uses that website.  It works perfectly for the gentlemen who have contacted me in the past.  They love the photos!  Totally hot!

Hugs and kisses to you, Rin Tin!

P.S. See refer to my reviews from 11/24 & 12/6 for the most recent information - for TER members...it's all conveniently there!  Ciao!

Now I know why, when somebody suggested I see you and gave me the link to the muse cube, all I got was the elegant but mysterious black and white profile.

I had to double-check (it's a blonde thing!) to really make sure that this link is really, really working ..... and it DOES!

Warmest wet kisses and I hope this is compatible with your operating system now!
