I think it would be interesting enough to ponder that what I am about to say in regards to being a romantic person but of one who does not limit himself to one particular lady or ladies.  Romantic by presenting a jewelry decorated with a gemstone corresponding to a provider's month of birth.  For instance, I will make conversation with a provider whose birthday is in the month of October, set up an appointment with her, have a romantic dinner at a nice dining establishment, take her to a private location for a rendezvous with passion, and then gracefully thank the lady for her companionship by presenting her a gift of such a memorably sweet yet simple beginnings as in a piece of jewelry reminding the birth of that lovely lady by whom one's heart has been captivated.  I wonder if there is a provider who has a birthday in the month of October.  I will choose only 12 providers of which I will remain faithful to, though correspondence with all the providers will be continuous throughout the year in order to sustain the excitement of the encounter, in that particular month that corresponds to their date of births.  This will go on until the lady retires and decides not to see anyone else besides her significant other.  I will present a gift of jewelry to these ladies for every apointment made, which is once a year, until they choose not to receive anymore gifts from me.  Cheesy or not, it makes one wonder the extent that a  man would go to experience a change in pace in the daily life of a hobbyist.

My last birthday, I was bought a VERY nice desk and computer stand.  He was thinking seriously about purchasing me a Very Special Doll.  I think next year that is what I want.  Actually,  Christmas is coming soon.

Hey let me be the Jan one only thing is next year im skipping my birthday .. who wants to be 36?

Deanna, your birthstone is Garnet (month of January), which is derived from the Greek word "Granatum" or the color of the pomegranate seed.  The pomegranate symbolized the story of Persephone, the Greek and the Roman Goddess of fertility and the queen of the Underworld, who was fed pomegranate by Pluto with the intent to keep her in the Underworld with him forever.  It's been said that when Persephone left the earth the vegetation died but when she returned life was brought back to the earth.  Legend tells of the use of the garnet to maintain alliances and to keep the peace.  Garnet is also the gem of faith and of truth.

Not that anyone cares, but due to my freakish interest in Greek Mythology and the mention of the abudction and return of Persephone, generally refered to as "The Rape of Persephone" from the Homeric "Hymn of Demeter", I am hopelessly compelled to share the story.... I apologize in advance.  :p

Persephone (Maiden of Spring) was the daughter of Demeter
(daughter of Cronus and Rhea, G-dess of Grain and Fertility) and Zeus (son of Cronus, Ruler of the G-ds, top G-d if you will, Thuderbolt Boy).  Persephone was purported to be extremely beautiful so beautiful in fact, that no one could see her and but love her, this was apparently true for Uncle Hades, (brother of Zeus, keeper of the dead, not surprisingly a rather cold guy).

One day while Persephone was out collecting flowers and frolicking and stuff the Earth opened up and Uncle Hades, on his chariot abducter her, and took her to the Underworld with him (being that he spent all his time with dead people, I guess he didn't possess great wooing or seduction skills).

Not surprisingly, Demeter was none too thrilled with her daughter's abduction, and puinished the Earth and it inhabitants by not allowing anything to grow for the year that Persephone was with Hades.

Zeus, finally intervened and sent Hermes to Hades to pretty much demand Persephone's return (it's good to be the King [of G-ds]...), because he couldn't refuse Zeus, Hades allowed persephone to return to her Mother...but he offered her a pomegranate, and though up until then she had eaten nothing while in the underworld she ate three pomegranate seeds, and by so doing consummated their relationship (I think there are better ways to consummate a relationship...but what the Hell do I know?) and she was therefore bound to the Underworld and compelled to return.

Zeus knew that the world couldn't withstand Demeter's grief and her with holding of her gifts, so he again acted  as mediator and struck a deal with Hades.  Since Persephone had only eaten three seeds from the pomegranate, she would return to the Underworld for three months out of each year, and at that time Demeter mourns  again and the earth turns cold and palnts go dormant.

So, there you have it, a really boring, and far to long, telling of why there is Winter.

Again, I apologize.

hehehehehehe

I recon I hafta agree with ya there.

Heidi, your July birthday designates ruby as your birthstone.  The name "ruby" is derived from the Latin word "ruber, " which means red.  The attraction to this most prized gem, called the the "Rajnapura" or King of Gems by Hindus, is it's fiery red color that makes those that I have seen it for the very first time think of an eternal bright flame which symbolizes the nature of undying, passionate love.  If a ruby is worn on the left hand, only good fortune can come to the owner of that gem.  It's been said that the ruby was worn by royalty to guard against the forces of darkness which presents itself when the ruby turns dull.

Interesting Choice of jewelry since I KNOW everything you do has a reason and is well thought out.

I do miss you...

I am an October Gal if this helps, In fact though I am not proud that I will be turning the Big 30....My Birthday is next week....BOO HOO....Need a nice Gentleman to help cheer me up and make me feellike Im still in mY 20's...Any Takers????
Sherie ( AKA Blondetoplay )

My dear you should be proud of turning 30.  The reason?  The alternative is not good.  Not turning 30

Sherie, opal as you mentioned is the "modern" birthstone of the month, October, in which you were born.  The Latin word for opal is "Upala," which means precious stone.  Romans considered the opal as the personification of hope and purity and described it as as "cupid paederos," meaning the child as beautiful as love. The Greeks held the belief that the opal will lend the owner of such a stone powers of insight to what the future holds.  It has been said that Mark Anthony could not resist Cleopatra after his eyes were caught by the mystical magnetism of the opal for which she was wearing.  I believe there is an old wives's tale which spoke of the opal necklace as a means to maintain the luster and color of hair of a blonde woman.

I'm 68 and lickin life up & down and all around.  Save your gemstones and SHOW ME THE MONEY!  I was born in June on a hot summers night so the poultry fee I charge per hour wouldn't make a dent in the price tag of the gemstone I want.

"the poultry fee I charge..." -- you'll accept payment in chickens?? (LOL!)

The lady who has a birthday in month of April will be a satisfied camper.  Diamonds are forever!

Hey Danny,
I was just reading the thread & caught this post from you:

"The lady who has a birthday in month of April will be a satisfied camper.  Diamonds are forever!"

My birthday is in April, but I've never gotten diamonds... :(
Many (if not most) men would buy a Crystal (or clear) gem stone.
You are INDEED a class act!

Warm Hugs & Soft Wet Kisses,
Genni
:)

Genni, the April birthstone, the diamond, was considered by the Greeks the ultimate representation of what true love should be.  Archduke Maximilian of Austria started the tradition of presenting the diamond engagement ring to his beloved, Mary of Burgundy, with whom he shared the constancy of love.  The word "diamond" derived its name from the Greek word "adamastos," or the invincible.  It's been said that lovers would take rings made up of small diamond crystals and would etch their vows of love for one another on clean window panes.  It's been thought that the diamond had magical qualities in which happiness, prosperity (larger the diamond, the more wealth...go figure...lol), and protection shall be granted to the rightful owner.  The Greeks fancied the diamond as the splinters of stars from the heavenly bodies or the shedding of tears from the eyes of the weeping Gods as they look down to watch in awe of their creation.  I think no one else can put the value of the diamond in a better context than Zsa Zsa Gabor:  "I have never hated a man enough to give his diamonds back."  And ain't that the truth!!  LOL.

My b-day is next month...whew!  I've never done the research, but Danny, go ahead...I'm intrigued...

Sofia

Sofia, your birthstone is called Citrine which is derived from the French word "citrin," or lemon.  The Citrine is a rare form of the quartz, mostly mined in Brazil, and were first brought to attention by the Romans.  The Romantic period brought these gems into vogue during which they were used to enhance the beauty of jewelry made out of gold.  It's been said that people who wanted to avoid evil or hostile thoughts would indefinitely wear ornamental jewelry containing Citrine.  This gem is so sensitive to the exposures of heat and to direct sunlight it will permanently change color.  If someone gives you a Citrine as a gift, he is giving you a symbol of hope and strength to overcome the difficulties in your life.

I thought Topaz was my birthstone...hmmm...Or is Citrine the same as Yellow Topaz?

lol...well, I like diamonds better anyway...;-)

Thanks dannyl, that was pretty nice!

Sofia

Sofia, you are absolute correct that Topaz is the birthstone for the month of November.  It seems that there are a variety of birthstones for each month depending on the topic at hand, or whether we are interpreting a person's birth through the traditional, the modern, the mystical, the ancient, the zodiac, and the constellation of the stars.  It's known that the yellow tapaz is the alternate gemstone for Citrine (traditional birthstone).  The word "Topaz" is derived from ancient language (Sanskrit) of the Hindus and means "fire."  The Greeks would wear the topaz to render themselves with additional strength and to hide themselves from the sight of the enemy during battle.  Lore speaks of the use of topaz as a cleanser of the mind from the corrupting influences because it's been said that wearing the gemstone will doubly improve "eyesight."  A healer in the Middle Ages would rely on the Topaz to cure people suffering from a wide range of ailments, such as asthma, insomnia, and hemorrhages.  The Egyptians described the intensity of color of the Topaz as the insignia of the sun god "Ra" and wore the gem to protect themselves against harm's way.  Like the Egyptians, the Romans saw the brilliance of color in topaz as the representation of Jupiter, the god of the sun.  A gift of the Topaz symbolizes friendship and will strengthen a person's capacity to give and receive love.

Thank you Danny, for the lovely words and the special attention. It is a rare man indeed who would be so considerate of OUR feelings to make us ladies feel so special with all the research & thought you are putting into your responses, with no hidden agenda! Even though we have never met & may never meet, I feel soothed & pampered by your response! :)

As for Zsa Zsa Gabor, I could probably learn a thing or two from her. I could borrow some of her expertise & experience with regards to men & need to adapt the attitude of "I have never hated a man enough to give his GIFTS back." LOL! (I can hopefully work on the diamonds later.)

These words really ARE well thought out! I am normally a sucker for supposed feelings & kind words (which tends to get me into trouble) but your words (& feelings) are genuine, with no motive other than making us feel unique.  That is what makes them special, & this definitely makes you a class act.

{{Thank You!}}

I have to Agree, You are a Definate Class Act.  In the event that we never cross paths, One Must appreciate your attention to detail and thoughtfulness...
