During the last couple of months, there have been great reviews on at least two different providers who have requested that initial contact be made by email(no phone number listed). I have no problem with this, frankly think it's a good idea. In each of the two instances I composed a very polite, professional and, out of respect for the number of emails that I'm sure they get, brief paragraph. I gave an overview of myself, listed some references, some employment information, including the switchboard number where I work, and personal phone numbers and emails as to how I can be contacted for further details, information, or whatever else the provider deemed appropriate. I also mentioned that, since I live in the same city as each of them use as a base, the scheduling of our meeting could pretty much be to their (each, this was 2 different letters and contacts) convience The frustrating thing is that I have received no response from either. Did I do this wrong? Providers, should I have been more detaied about my desires, hopes and dreams. Should I have told a joke? I would love to hear how to best handle the introductory email or if this is typical.
You made no mention how long it has been since you sent your emails. From what you have stated, it sounds to me as if you did exactly what you should have done; rather well, I may add.
Some times providers do not return references, and sometimes we get busy, distracted, or otherwise engaged.
What you did was fine, and I wouldn't change a thing. If you still would like to visit these ladies, send a brief note asking if they received your email, and maybe leave a number to contact you with.
