I also have separate email but does this give her the right to do as she did?

I recently emailed a provider asking her rates for a special service. She replied with the amount of donation, all is OK.
I now get a email from her that she also sent to everyone in her address book. This indiscreet provider CC: 200 other people giving each of us each others email address. This is a load of S**T. I am sure some of the Atlanta TER members has received the same email, what is your opinion about this person and her way of doing business?

I would suggest that you NEVER use your business or personal email address that could be used to discover your identity.  Always use an aynonomous online service like Hotmail, Yahoo, MSN, ect.  Mistakes can happen and you do not want your email address to fall into the wrong hands.

Aliados, if you can't divulge her name on the open boards, why not make it available as a PM ??

I did not receive a copy of the email in question - I was just making a suggestion that hobbyist NEVER use an email address that can be traced back to them!

The past few days, I have been receiving many emails containing the virus Worm.SomeFool

It could be that...it mails everyone in your address book...

I would suggest scanning your pc...or letting said provider know...hopefully it was something like this, and not the other...

I never CC anyone, unless they are personal friends...

Sofia Danila

my question would be...why in h3ll is this provider keeping all her clients email addresses in her email program?  Discreet to me means destroy the info immediately afterwards, no?

-DL

I always ask my 'friends' if they mind me keeping their email addies...

I don't understand emailing over 200+ people...I don't have an 1/8 of that number of people, personal-professional-otherwise...

It's definitely bad biz to do that...

My very good friends are allowed to use my professional home email...

Sofia

Got same email, very dissappointed, but that's is why I have a seperate email for the hobby.

I have met the lady in question and she is a sweetheart, BUT I do not condone this type email, it has happened to me one other time. I haven't talked to her about it, but I think it was probably done more because of lack of computer knowledge than any harmful motive. I have friends that send emails like that all the time, of course the subject is different. If this is the worst thing that happens to me this week, it will be a great week.

I agree with Darklove's comments.  Discreet means the provider gets rid of it after our meeting.  I had this happen to me by a provider in North Carolina and she agreed to stop right away understanding it was wrong.  This provider in question should do the same.  She should get permission first.

I am sorry to all that this has dissappointed and upset.  I will post a new segment please read aplogy above...

Folks, many email programs today automatically caches email addresses when you send one or receive one.

Just like your Web Browser caches URL,s under history. So one has to manually delete it with Outlook, Explorer, Netscape and Netscape Mail. AOL is based on Netscape.

Some browsers and email allows you to set up to delete them when you exityou are  I don't use AOL, Yahoo, etc. so I don't know whetehr you can or not.

Then again I am not a Microsft user for my day-to-day activity.

Any one interested in using a different Browser may want to try OPERA and can dowload free from www.opera.com. Good browser with lot of options and has a buit in POP UP blocker also. OK I don't work for Opera, just happen to like it because of the configuration options and it is faster than Explorer and not prone to all the virus problem Microsoft has.

she may have made a PC related clerical error but it is YOU that is ultimately responsible for your own descretion. YOU are an adult
YOU are pc literate and YOU should have known to use one of the many free web based e-mail servers.
my 2 cents
