So once that's accepted....that everyone does it....then it's just another way to choose who you want to see.

I think there's a difference between someone who bitches about every client, or every day, and someone who bitches occasionally about a bad day.
Let's face it and try to be real.....some guys are absolute time-wasting, whiny, dirty (and not in the good way), assjack douchebags.
If a lady bitches about that....I have no problem with it.
Frankly....I like a lady with a little edge to her.

Now....if someone wants to kid themselves and live in fantasyland and believe that these ladies are all perfect, quaint little princesses who would dare never speak a negative word (stepford hooker).....then let them choose, and fool themselves, accordingly.

Just sayin'

Ok so being a fossil I have not really taken the plunge into social media in a big way.  However being in a job transition it was suggested I may want to use services such as Facebook and Twitter to assist with this process.  Given that Facebook looks and feels a lot like LinkedIn which I use for business, I decided to see if there was any benefit to Twitter.  So last night I set up an account and just began trolling around inevitably happening upon various provider pages -- ok so it wasn't purely business as I know some providers seem to be big into Twitter based on links from their websites.  Anyway after a couple of hours of trolling around I have a couple of observations.

First, my overall observation of social media is that it is the proverbial message in a bottle.  People shouting out with no particular audience in mind to satisfy a need for social interaction.  Have we really become such an isolated and lonely society that shouts into cyberspace have replaced the intimacy of true friendships and acquaintances?  Now that observation is not on point for this board but the next is.

Having reviewed a number of provider profiles from around the country, I am astonished at the number of rants concerning hobbyists by providers who apparently are using Twitter as a marketing vehicle since they advertise following them on their website.  Now I realize that the ladies run into a fair number of wackos and time wasters in this business, but do regular businesses rant about their customers -- not publicly.  My point is ranting is appropriate in the right forum, but if you are marketing it would appear unwise unless you have all the business you can handle.  This may sound crass but there are many gentleman who judge a lady by how they present themselves and if they wanted to be with someone who was prone to bitching they could just stay home with their significant other.

Don't disagree with your observations, just saying that if your using it for marketing you need to be cognizant of your audience that's just good business which is what this is in the end.

I agree that you don't want your bitching about your clients out there where your clients can see it. But as you say this is a business and as with any business there are those that are good at it and those that are not. There are also those ( in this business and others) that think if you don't like the way I do business there is a guy right behind you who doesn't care. Some of them are correct and some are not.

...and why is anyone using a social media outlet to comment, bitch, and/or put the hobby out there for all to see. Not very discrete. Which takes us back to what I said above.

Again I don't dismiss these points but being in consulting I have heard the uniqueness comment applied to every business I have been in yet in the end common business practices can be applied.  Additionally I didn't say blowing off steam was not warranted or required  I was suggesting that maybe there were better forums than in front of your clientele.  For example provider only boards, emails to other providers or through social media avenues which don't make everything available to all your followers, google + I believe offers such a  feature based on my recent plunge.

Again point is if its a marketing vehicle treat it as such that's not moaning and groaning it is offering advice.

Ginger I don not disagree with much of what you say the point was offered as advice -- figure out how to separate the two.  I would disagree with your comment about customer server relationship.  It exists its just that the totality of the relationship requires more definition, reviews aid in this, screening aids in this, how we behave on these boards aids in this, as well as dialog in setting up the meeting.  There are certain "traditional" business relationships which require this as well.  For example hiring a consultant requires detailed definition of the task at hand or the project will run amok and both parties will be unsatisfied.  While not exactly the same the point is the principles can be applied.

I think what I am hearing from your post and others is that there is inadequate business guidance for those participating in this industry.  As such you can learn how to screen, you can learn safety techniques, but handling the stress associated with the job and some of the aspects of running it as a business might not have adequate resources to turn to.  I liken it to many pro athletic teams that hire a variety of consultants that support their athletes on money management.  These guys know their craft but maybe not all the attendant business and personal impacts.  Whats a possible solution -- to me its legalization.  Once the hobby is no longer underground there will be legitimate services which begin to be provided for these other items.

Only social media we need is TER....if only the Hobby boys out there would tell the truth....if it looks like a duck and fucks like a duck...it must be a duck...A 10 is a 10 is a 10, rare....a 9 is a 9 is a 9...also rare...an 8 is not a 9 or 10...Boom done!

I was thinking along those lines and was wondering if it has to do with maturation of the hobbyist or whether they just don't get it.  For example there is a certain segment of the industry which operates on short notice and limited screening.  If a gent is moving from that environment to the more established independant ladies there will be a colliding of expectations.  Some I guess will get it and others will continue to try and shove the square peg into the round hole.

I have come to the conclusion that Twitter and the hobby is not for me so I agree on TER.  But is my 7 your 8 and did my 8 just become a 9 because I was hornier than all get out lol.
