So much to cover. BTW thanks to all for so far keeping it a real discussion and not something else.
I guess first is this isn't about appearance scores. That is far to objective one person 10 is another 8 or 7, so this is just about performance.
Next I am not saying that poor/substandard reviews should not be posted. There is most certainly a time and place. I am just trying to say that before impacting providers overall score some consideration should be given to the reasons why. I choose the scale of high 8s to 9+ as those in general are the providers I like to see. This applies equally to providers with high 7s to 8+ who get 4 and 5 and so on. Also, I am in no way saying everyone deservers and 8, 9 or 10 in performance.
Since Bella (btw one of my favs.) was kind enough to jump in with an example, I went and read her 5:5 and personally I see an issue in the rating. Now, I am not saying the listed activities rate outstanding numbers and certain activities were not on the menu as this was a quickie session but who here say they will repeat with a 5 level experience (or perhaps I am just biased). I read another subpar review of hers and that one I don't see an issue with. It was a 6:5 and the reviewer was looking for a "PSE" experience chose Bella because of her ad at the time but got more of a "GFE" experience. I will have to take that at face value as I can't see the ad but that kind of issue would prompt a substandard review from me aslo.
Let me try this to illustrate my point (a mundane world parallel).
As an "IT guy" I will use a computer system as an example (and don't get the idea that I am comparing providers to a machine, I'm not). Let’s say there is a system that this computer system has 40 users and each of these users must send an email out to the entire company rating their experience. Of that 39 of the users say the system is easy to log into, works quickly, returns useful data in a very speedy fashion, just what every users wants. The 40th, however, report nothing but trouble at log in, can't get the application to run usually and when it does it is slow and many times the data provided is useless. Now if that user sends out their rating to the company which of these 40 emails will get the most attention? I can say from personal experience, multiple occurrences and multiple companies that it only the negative rating that is paid any significant attention (good news falls on deaf ears). Now instead blasting out bad news, if the one user works with support and figures out what the issue is and solves it (usually something in the environment or in the way an application is begin used) then you get 40 happy users.
Some of us certainly look at substandard (and I am sure we view significantly above standard number with some suspicion) review with a great deal of suspicion but many more don't I believe from mundane world experience.
Enough blather from me...
