I completely agree with Hunter. I've never been helped by a cop- not after my house was burglarized. Even though I found witnesses who placed a recently released burglar walking toward my house the morning it happened, they never bothered to even interview the guy.
My son was recently held up at gunpoint and forced into the house of the guy he was with. He was help on his knees with a gun to his head while the thugs took a laptop and X-box. The neighbors called the cops who promptly wrote my son a citation for possession of pot because there was a pipe on the coffee table. When he tried to contact the cops to get a case # to give to the insurance (his car was stolen, too), he got no response.
I've got other stories, none of them end with the cops helping.
There are degrees of rottenness, but generally speaking, most are. I have encountered too many with a Napolean ("Little Man") syndrome to believe otherwise. Esp here in ATL.
It's about time you stop ragging about cops. We all know these things go on, we all know that hookers get busted, we all know that what we are doing is illegal in the eyes of the law. Next time you get your ass mugged, or your house broken into and your posessions stolen, or some one near to you gets killed in a hit-an-run accident or a hold-up, call a pimp and see how much help they are.
I'm with ATLHunter on this one. I think a pimp would be more help than a cop any day. The last time I called a cop to help with a breakin and robbery, they searched my house trying to find something to arrest me for. They did this after telling me that they would never find the perps and did not even bother to look for fingerprints. Your average friendly local cop nowadays is too busy trying to raise money for his department by giving out traffic tickets to be bothered protecting neighborhoods.

Anytime I have called the police they came and did their job... Hunter I have been at your place when you called them and they came out pretty quickly and did their job...
I have even been on the the other side being arrested for stupid things...

Once for license being suspended... (fixed now) (thankful I had saved reciepts that I did pay a ticket) but that was not the cops fault or mine... It is a screw up in book keeping by some grandma that needs to retire instead of hanging on to the cushy job she had in twigg county...
Once for prostitution...In Alabama (6 years ago) They didn't take my laptop, and I kept my phone in the holding cell with me... I didn't have what they were looking for... I did however post for a service and I didn't screen as well as I should have... No ones fault... I let him in the door...
Each time I was in the wrong... I was never treated badly or unfairly... I broke the law... I got in trouble... I got punished...
I agree totally there are 'bad apples' in evey job... I just do not see where you can claim they are ALL bad...
If you hate cops then great hate them... I am sure we all have our reasons...
Clearly we know we have LE lurking to build a case against us... So why in the world do people want to come here and bash and call names... That seems to me to be the same as putting a bulls eyes on your ass...
In turn it makes you and those around you paranoid and then work slows down and all your rant managed to do was scare people and cost you money...
I go back and forth with legal or not legal but the only FACT is that for now it is illegal... If we choose to keep doing this then we have to stay out of trouble, not bring attention to ourselves unnecessarily, and screen screen screen...
