Question about online pharmacies

I'm wondering if buying Viagra through online Canadian pharmacies is a good thing to do?  Prices are much more reasonable but is the quality up to par? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Up To 77 Percent Of Viagra Bought Online May Be Fake,

"Pfizer Global Security evaluated 22 websites appearing in the top search results for the phrase “buy Viagra” and conducted chemical analysis of the pills advertised as Pfizer’s Viagra that were ordered from these outlets. The study, which was presented at the 2012 AUA annual meeting in Atlanta, found that about 80% of these pills were counterfeit, and while the fake pills contained the active ingredient, sildenafil, the amount was only 30% to 50% of what was advertised."

Pfizer Fights Back

In a dramatic counter-maneuver, this summer Pfizer itself began selling Viagra online through the company’s own website. As reported by the New York Times, experts say Pfizer could be losing hundreds of millions of dollars a year in potential sales of Viagra, a blockbuster drug with sales of more than $2 billion in 2012.

1) Canadian pharmacies almost always import their "meds" from Indian, Caribbean islands or other off-shore locales.  There have been scores of studies ordering 5PDEs, with funding subsidized by the manufacturers of the ones approved in the US (like Pfizer) that have shown greater than 75% of them were fakes/or highly diluted.  With a gamut of other med categories studies have shown fakes still occur but at a much lower rate than 5PDEs.

Since 5PDEs are very expensive and of course in high demand,  people turn to the Canadian pharmacies because of their significantly discounted rates. People who order from them or the Canadian sites themselves will explain the delivery takes so long because they have to come from off shore to Canada and then are held up in Canadian customs in transport to the U.S.

2) The numbers from this study done by a group in  San Diego at the "World Meeting on Sexual Medicine" in 2012  are often quoted in the medical literature.

3) Take a look at the numbers. It's estimated to be a $75 billion counterfeit industry. Although some sites don't require an Rx, most do.  But whether they do or not, counterfeits are still awfully high.
In a study the  San Diego group of docs did with Pfizer, they ordered from 22 websites and found
77% were counterfeit, 18% were authentic, and one was an illegal generic.

"The counterfeit tablets only contained between 30% and 50% of the labeled amount of the active ingredient, sildenafil citrate. Goldstein said the drugs are largely made by 'illicit narcotic labs.'"

Pharmacology Journals are replete with studies showing the fakes to be significantly inferior by parameters like "dissolution studies"

Urology journals are full of careful studies of purported 5-PDEs ordered from scores of Canadian pharmacies and most of them were counterfeits with low or no efficacy. The average seems close to 70-80% but at any given time you order your milage could vary--and not in a good way.
