On-Going Discussion Theme

I have been a TER VIP member off-and-on for the past five years, and one discussion "theme" that has always been evident but seems to be more polarizing these days is the use of aliases.

I just don't understand the vehemence and vitriolic criticism against those that legitimately use aliases from time-to-time.  Yes, I understand the backlash against those that use an alias to incite or cause trouble, but there are some here that truly believe that there is no place whatsoever for aliases.  Those folks, of course, are entitled to their opinion, but when their remarks and attacks are directed against an alias user for no other reason but the use of an alias, what is their motivation?  How is it anyone else's business if they are not directly impacted? Do these people not understand or see any use for using an alias? Do they think it is their role to police the boards and witch-hunt all alias users?

I've seen comments such as "Your opinion doesn't count since you are using an alias"; "Cowards using aliases aren't allowed an opinion..."' etc., etc.

Many of us provide our TER handles to agencies & independents in order to get verified.  I, for one, will not use my real handle if there is any potential that my opinion or comments may cause me problems with any of those fine ladies or agencies. Period.  Is that cowardly?

using an alias to be rude and offensive is cowardly

I agree that they often are, and in that case the Moderator can flip the alias, warn the asshole, or delete the comment altogether.

My beef is with those who believe that there are NO legitimate uses for aliases and make it their mission to call those out using aliases legitimately, as if the alias user's opinion is less valid than their own, which of course it isn't.

We continue to see people showing up with stream of consciousness posts, requests for readily available info, thinly veiled shill threads and drooling.  The only purpose that they serve is to push a providers ad off the first page.  When a lady earns a living fucking fat slobs, the least we can do is let her promote her business.

Just so you don't accuse me of being cowardly, my name is little phil.

Completely agree, I do the same.

And when I do.. Its usually poking fun :) and I never use one to swipe at anyone.. I know that there are some here that think Im alot of the alias's.. Ive had Mods after they become Mods.. tell me.. Geez! I always thought that was you... or...whatever...

I like alias's and think they absolutely serve a purpose! There are many time I want to say things, and dont want people to know its me for whatever reason. I dont mean nasty rude things.. Just talking informational stuff.. That I think the community may want to know but, dont have to neccassarily know its from me.

Even the alias's that are rude, mean and nasty are OK with me as I take  what they post with a grain of salt. Alias's that are repeatedly and  solely used for meaness should be flipped IMHO.. As the Mods know who they are.. and can see a repeated use of nastyness.. Flipped would be a way to curtail that.. Flip a few names and watch how the use of nasty alias's goes away LOL LOL..

Alias's are OK :) :)
