I have noticed a recent up tick in posts which seem to be simply inflammatory in nature and make little or no real contribution to the community. In these cases I'd like to suggest we all do our best to resist the urge to comment. Allow the posts fall down the board as quickly as possible. Trolls simply want attention. If we don't give it to them, they will go away.

There used to be a much higher posting ratehere a few years ago.
Hope it gets that way again.

I think you get what you look for in terms of inflammatory posts with no real contribution
Any post is contributory I believe.

I remember those days, 2005ish? When the local and national communities seemed to both be at their peaks. And I agree that deciding what is and is not inflammatory is rather subjective. But I also remember times, maybe not as much in Atlanta, but definitely in other cities when boards went months without moderators, the trolls took over and the boards eventually dried up. Conflicts started over trolls posting for provocation, just for the validation of getting a response, like all trolls do I guess. But sooner or later it would seem to start a chain reaction of people just wanting the last word. Eventually there was such an overshadowing divisive element. Like every post quickly devolved into something personal, no context, difficult to follow, no fun to read. I hated that time. No desire to go back. I only realized how much I enjoy keeping up with the goings on here when it was gone for a year. Guess I feel a little fearful?
