Is it wise for a discussion board to ignore users?
Is it a way to create your own private board?

What gives

The key on the board post seems defective.

However, if a user has ever sent you a pm, and you hit the ignor user button from your mail account all activity from that individual is blocked on your screen and replaced with an italic to placeholder.

You can reverse a block by going to your mail account and deleting the individual.

I have not played with how alias handles are impacted yet.

Right or wrong to use, that is a personal question.  The party can still post and create train wrecks.  You only get to see how others react.  Bit silly looking really but adds an interesting element

I agree. I use an older tool that has served me pretty well. It's not an ignore button so much as simply ignoring.

I don't understand the necessity of the ignore button. I know the providers and hobbyists whose posts/opinions/ideas/etc I respect (even if I disagree). I know, mostly, who the drama queens and problem makers are. Usually when I see their posts I simply don't click.

Works remarkably well ;)

Hopefully TER will get the button working properly soon so the regulars can go about easily avoiding the postings of those they don't wish to read.

As always, be safe and have fun
