Crawler is going to stop offering free e-mail. I have used Crawler as my hobby e-mail for a few years now. It was a pain when I changed from hotmail. I had to provide evidence the new e-mail address was indeed xyz23 and not someone trying to pull a fast one posing as xyz23. I used TER PM to to assure providers it was me.

I need suggestions for a new e-mail provider. I don't want one that tries to connect me to others I have no interest in as Gmail and Hotmail did/do. I don't want the e-mail to offer calendars, and pictures and take forever to load an e-mail homepage with junk I'm not interested in. (Like Gmail and Hotmail) That was why I liked Crawler. It loaded quickly and didn't have ads and trending stories etc. on it's home page.

I use Hushmail as my regular e-mail andlike it very much. I could create another account for the hobby but I like to not have the two with the same e-mail provider.

I've read here about Proton mail. Does anyone have info/advice on it? Anyone have other suggestions?

Works for me too. You don't even have to input your real email address, even though they ask for it.

mail.com is the way to go, been using it for a few years.

Before that was hushmail, but eventually I didn't login for more than two weeks and it wiped the account, so no bueno.  Mail.com does not require constant attention, and I have no real or personal information in it, easy and private...and free!

Hello,
Mail.com asks you for an email address as a reference. I assume they want it to email you offers on products and services. You can skip that step and still retain a mail.com address for your needs.

What do you mean by this?

They probably want a place to send a password reset link if you forget yours

I'm use to that, I didn't provide one for Crawler either. They need it for an alternate contact when you forget your password as Zach_Houliares said.

:)

Mozilla Thunderbird is great.  I've used it in the past and have considered going back to it again.
