P411 Update:

We are dealing with a Denial of Service attack out of Asia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

The short version (how I understood it) is that we are being hit over and
over, by thousands of malware infected computers, which is overloading
our servers and bringing the site down. We have people working to block
the attacking ips, during which time the site needs to be completely
offline. Once all of the ips have been blocked, we'll put the site back up.

Thank you for your patience, it's been a rough day for everyone.

Always,
Gina

so if this malware and virus are hitting their site, how safe will it be for me to go to their site once they are back online?

We are working very hard to resolve the problem, and I assure you that we have excellent people working on it.

Always,
Gina

In a general sense, DoS attacks are generally designed to disrupt the usage of a site, not to infiltrate or compromise it.  You usually see them targeted at sites owned by people or organizations that are disliked (like the attack on the Church of Scientology), or that give some sort of monetary or business advantage by shutting down a competitor temporarily (think about Coke running a DoS attack against Pepsi).  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  The nature of the process is not infinitely sustainable, so eventually the offenders will lose interest and move on.
