The man of the cloth question got me wondering about the subject of guys' jobs. I for one have always hated the question, "What do you do for a living?" I always thought it was a tad invasive. I've relaxed my opinion somewhat, but still give a broad answer. I had always wondered why I was ALWAYS asked that question. I like my job, but don't love it enough to want to talk about during non-work hours. I don't even talk about my job with my friends. Then something dawned on me...

In talking with ladies, I always hear that their clientele consists mainly of doctors, lawyers, CPA's. It struck me that maybe part of the ladies' fantasy is that they are seeing those kind of guys. I mean there are plumbers who make six figures, but I never hear about ladies saying, "Hey, I just hooked up with a plumber!"

Strips clubs are loaded with ex-pro football players, race car drivers, and Navy SEALS. You never meet the guy who robs the fake it till they make it's blind on parts and labor to fix the Mercedes they're always late on the payments with.

I usually ask, first, if I can be nosy, and if the answer is 'yes' I'll ask 'what do you do for a living' because it helps me to remember you. A mental flashcard, lol! It might be easy for you to remember Caylee...but it's a little difficult for me to keep all the Mikes and Steves separate in my head.

Also, knowing what you do, helps me to sort of know where you're coming from...perhaps some insight into how you perceive others as well as yourself. This helps me to know what way I should take things

Last but not least, I ask to see if, other than the hobby, we have some common ground. It would be pretty awkward if I went out to dinner with someone that I couldn't have a conversation with.

My job gives me immense challenges and intellectual satisfaction and I don't mind talking about it with those who are interested. If not, I don't bother either. Only tell when asked.

I don't think I've ever met a lady who DIDN'T ask me my profession during our first meeting.  The question never fails to make me a tad uncomfortable, but I always tell the truth, but in the most general terms possible.  

I would never, ever give my employment or other sensitive/personal information as part of a screening process, but I usually will give an honest, yet vague/general answer when asked in the boudoir.

I was referring to those Providers that request a employment name/address, website, phone number, etc for verification purposes, which is standard on most of those silly web forms.  I am a CFO of a large organization, and there is no way in hell I would provide any employment information to a Provider for verification purposes.  That would be felony stupid.

In my case, the agency just Googled my name and my place of employment popped right up. So it ends up in their database anyway. I'm done giving info to agencies. I'll stick to a close group of ladies I've gotten to know who enjoy my company.

Asking about jobs is also a part of ensuring safety--a means of mentally corroborating what you have said perhaps via phone, email or other communication with the present moment.  I personally don't care what a gentleman does so long as it will not interfere with my personal safety and privacy.

Fantasy about hooking up with men who primarily hold white collar jobs? Not for me, I simply prefer men who can offer intellectual conversation and this happens mostly with those who hold graduate level degrees of course but it is not limited exclusively to this segment of the population either.  If a lady takes true interest in all of her suitors she will find all possess an interesting degree of intelligence in their own right--graduate degree or not.

There are several jobs:  real estate agent, lawyer, contractor, nail salon worker - all of which have state licenses that can be looked up online.   That we can verify your profession without being obtrusive is an awesome help in some cases.

Because they keep your info! There Are also agencies like my own that keep ZERO nada zip nothing! There are some Indi's and Agencies that keep every bit of info they get..
