I've never used an alias myself but also...

Quite sure many are tired of hearing the alias argument.  If you feel that way, stop reading now.  Really, it won’t hurt my feelings.

Here’s the thing – I like posting here or at least I used to.  Sometimes I get it right and sometimes I get it wrong.   In the past month or so, I have had alias posters taking me to task for things I have posted. I am both amused and saddened at the irony of someone calling me a bully, a whiteknight, a shill, etc. while concealing their own TER handle. (Note:  I do not take issue with being called these things, I have been called much worse, and sometimes rightfully so) But lest there be any doubt, I have never used an alias and never will.  I believe it gutless, demonstrates a lack of personal character, and highlights a serious deficiency in one’s upbringing to not take responsibility for what one says.

Anyone that has gone to M&G's in recent years, joined some of us for lunch or at a club knows exactly who I am (which now that I think about it probably explains why I find myself all alone in the corner.)  Fortunately, I have friends in this hobby that put up with my comments and appreciate knowing where I stand.  From a practical hobby standpoint, if a lady does not want to associate with me because of something I have posted, then we really would never have had a connection any way.

I acknowledge there are legitimate times when an alias is necessary – fear of leaving an easier trail for LE or avoiding personal embarrassment are two that come to mind.  But when they are used to push an agenda – well, the only agenda I really care about is the one for which I have left an envelope.

TER has positioned itself as a higher class group of providers / hobbyists.  And while the price points would support this, there are way too many posts that provide evidence to the contrary.  Undoubtedly, I am naive in so many ways - but I am okay with that admission.

Bottom line, just another self-serving rant on alias posts and a therapeutic reminder to myself that I am here to have some adult fun.  Alias posters – have at it.

I find myself agreeing completely with your thesis.  If I were king for a day, I'd flip every alias used to push an agenda.  But, the only time I find myself in a corner is when JPW sends me there so he can try and swoop down on some lady whom I'm trying to impress.... lol

Aliases are a wonderful thing.  You just need to be able to see who they really are

Cool post Coyote!!

I agree, and my take is that someone using a post and ragging on someone is just a plain and simple COWARD, afraid to man/woman-up and face your peers for your opinions, rants, etc.

...Just in case you missed the oh so clever and original alias spin on my handle.  Now, since it is not true (I am not over 60) and slanderous by its similarity to my handle I guess my reaction is supposed to be that of pitching a fit.  Problem is I just hate wasting a good, caustic retort on such a lame effort.

Yep, that's me...over 60 with an occasional bout of ED and I do not like aliases.  Once again, if it's worth saying, it's worth signing.

If it's worth saying, it's worth signing.  I've been complimented and cussed for posts but it's always me, never an alias.  Alias users are just pussies (oops, should I have used that word?) and should be ignored.

I go appreciate your no bs line you take on hate positions and nasty grams posted without facts, especially those from alias.

I appreciate pw picture reviews, he enables my laziness and sometimes clues me into some interesting porn sites.

I reallyvappreciate gambler and roanoak fuck off notes, especially when when we disagree

Though I often think he is wrong headed, I like the direct opinion AwCrap has.

Several of us regular posters will take a position, get and give bitch slapping, and either defend or retract our opinions.  This represents adult behavior.  Thank god we only have to debate sex, looks, and preferences.  I would hate to think what politics would look like here

But the alias question, it just gets under my skin.  Especially those who only flame and don't want to live with consequences.

There is one use of an alias that may be acceptable, and that is the humorous emphasis to a cheeky note.  Like the day a lady named raven posted a add around Edgar Allen Poe deathday.  There were some funny post playing on her name, and the alias were good

So I need to learn to ignore the alliasholes, damn tough personal goal
