I agree, Twitter is a great place to socalize however, I don't use it to find clients. Clients do follow me on there and I follow them back. Facebook is the same way...a great way to be social but simply not a place to find clients.
I see a lot of providers and agencies are on twitter (I’m not on facebook), and I was wondering, does having a presence on social networking websites actually result in more customers or is it just used as a social tool to interact with other providers and hobbyist? Also, how active are you on Facebook, Twitter, or any other website?
I have found Twitter to be an excellent place to network with like-minded people in general. I am not there for advertising. It gives others a little insight into who I really am and what motivates and interests me on a daily basis - as a human being, not as a provider. I do keep in contact with other providers & hobbyists, both publicly & through direct messages, but do not define myself there as an ASP or use it as an advertising platform. I do not talk of specific business or arrangements there. We talk about all sorts of current news and cultural issues having to do with daily life. The one thing that makes me log into Twitter before discussion forum sites, is that there, people do not insult others or make personal attacks from behind an alias. I like that its almost always positive energy there. If someone sees me there and wants to know more about me, just like others, I have a link to my website on my profile. If they are interested in meeting, they go through screening & verification just like anyone else. I am very active on Twitter and other social networks, but NO NOT Facebook.
