Indie count seems way low

Gotta be at least a 100

This may seem a bit nerdish, but in a idle moment, I wondered - hoe big is this online community in Atlanta - both supply side and demand?

Here's my analysis (would love refinement)

Remove the "outliers" - the pass through visitors and street walker types on BP and others

Agencies - 7 main agencies with 6 ladies listed on each - 42
Independents - advertise here on TER, own websites, legitimate courtesans -  another 15
BP girls that are legit - sustained, been around for years, just choose BP as their vehicle - another 10

Atlanta providers that are sustained, available and reliable (mostly :) ) = 67

On the demand side - the guys

TER top 100 reviewer gets down to 48 reviews, so with no science behind it - I am going to estimate 200 guys that are relatively active in the community

In a population of 6 million in metro Atlanta, couple of statistics

Guys - we are less that 1/10,000th of the population
Ladies - even rarer

We are all special !!!!

2006 NIH estimated that between 0.4% and 1.4% of adult women were sex workers (FSW) in Western Europe.... but this includes part time.   I doubt the US is that much different.  From another source adult women 15-49 (which is the cohort they used..) is a population of 74 Million.  So.... call it between 296,000 and 1,036,000 FSW in the US (300,000,000) population - which is the source of the number you see thrown around a lot - 1 Million in the US.  Atlanta MSA - about 5.7 Million....

SO....  just as a wild ass guess -  5,600 to 20,000 FSW in Atlanta.

Yet another study quoted 23 per 100,000 population Full Time Female Sex Workers (FTSW).  Call it 1,300 FTSW in Atlanta.  That seems a little low to me - just based on the number of busts I read about...

Customers.... well there are not great numbers on that but one study was 2% of the male population of the Netherlands  paid for sex annually.  Assuming that the Dutch aren't THAT much more horny than we are - but are much more willing to cooperate with surveys because it isn't illegal -  call it .75% of total population... or 42,000 customers in Atlanta..

As a percentage VERY few buyers or sellers participate in this board.   So... yes... we are special..

This reminds me of friends who are really into the "craft beer", cigar, wine, gun, etc hobbies.

Too much talkin, not enough drinking, smokin', shoot in', or f'in.

Let's just enjoy!

Just on P411 alone, there are well over 200 providers and as for the guys, I remember M&G's with close to a hundred guys showing up at some point during the evening. The actual number of whore mongers in Atlanta has to number in the thousands.

We aren't THAT special, sorry.

One last stat, over the years since TER was founded, there have been almost 12,000 reviews of Atlanta providers, considering the huge number of both hookers and johns alike who have never heard of TER you would have to conclude that there are literally thousands of both hookers and johns alike in ATL

Guess I am a sociologist at heart. I want to know about what we do, how many of us there are, our demographics,  etc. I think the numbers in the OP are too low. Maybe ATL isn't the best market to observe.  Look at Dallas.  There are nearly 500 P 411 ads and most are not tourers. Don't have the time do a proper analysis but Dallas is probably about as big as ATL.

PS:  I hope that being active in the community and being "special" equates to more than just review count.

And acting women, then who gives a fuck. By the way, everybody on this planet is insignificant. Just sayin.

You cant make a market analysis on the this industry because it is not measurable. Online presence means nothing. There are tons of girls who operate offline who are upscale and far from the streetwalker types. These girls frequent sport clubs, gaming events, and have a large network of people whom they are social with so they don't need an online presence to be known. Having a presence online only increases their exposure. It does not bring them business that they cannot get elsewhere.
